Boruto: TBV Chapter 4 was especially special as it introduced the fans to four new villains. These villains appear to be incredibly competent, unlike Code. They are quite strong and are equipped with abilities that could devastate the entire world. Boruto himself believed that their existence could crush the entire world and Even though he tried to stop it, he failed, and the birth of four new villains were seen in the previous chapter.

The Emergence Of New Villains In Boruto

Boruto God Tree Clones Ten Tails

The birth of the new villains in Boruto is quite easy to understand. Essentially, the secret lies in Code making use of his Claw Grimes. Code used his claw marks on the 10 Tails previously to shrink it down into humanoid versions. He believed that they were more useful this way and using shinjutsu on them, shrunk it down and, in some way, gave each clone sentience as well. These Claw Grimes, as Code calls them, started hunting down the nearest source of chakra. This is only natural, given that the 10 Tails is a seed for the God Tree and these God Trees suck out the chakra of a particular planet, leaving it dead in the process, and bearing a chakra fruit.

As such, the Grimes that Code created simply started hunting down the nearest source of chakra. Whoever was around them became a target and, in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex, fans saw some very interesting advancements surrounding this. When Code attacked Konoha, one of the regular ninjas was bitten by a Grime and it was clear to see that his chakra was completely taken from him and a tree started growing out of the Claw Grime that bit it. The person who was bitten was stuck in a tree, however, but didn't die. This unconscious person couldn't just be cut out and saved as that would essentially kill him.

While the person who got turned into a tree was irrelevant, the series later revealed some of the most important characters to have faced similar fates. Bug, who was Code's assistant, was also turned into a tree by the Grimes and fans found out that, at some point during the timeskip, Sasuke went on to have a similar fate as well. As soon as the Grimes bite these people, their chakra and likely all information about them is also stored inside the 10-Tails. The 10 Tails then created new clones based on the chakra patterns of these people, giving itself the powers of these people as well as a new form, along with greater sentience, that far surpasses their thirst for chakra.

Villain Number 1: Bug Clone

The very first clone that fans saw in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex chapter 4 was that of Bug. Fans know Bug to be a very weak character who didn't have all that much strength, to begin with. He always tagged around with Code and was in the same dimension as the Ten Tails itself. At some point, he got attacked by a Claw Crime and when that happened, he was turned into a tree as well. Fans could see his clone emerge when it attacked Boruto Uzumaki headfirst. In fact, the strength of this clone was so great that Boruto, who easily defeated Code, was sent crashing through the walls.

The Shinju clone then attacked Boruto with an appendage that he created from his arm and Boruto only managed to survive due to the usage of the Flying Thunder God Jutsu. Had he not been a user of this technique, he could very well have died. Boruto also tried attacking this clone with Lightning Release, however, it did not work, which shows that these clones have incredible resilience and cannot be taken down by simple ninjutsu.

Villain Number 2: Moegi's Clone

The second God Tree Clone that fans saw in the previous chapter was likely that of Moegi. While it isn't confirmed to be her clone just yet, the facial appearance matches completely with the character, as does the hairstyle. What makes this even more damning is the fact that the clone used Earth Style Jutsu to trap her targets and the same jutsu was earlier used by Moegi in the series when Amado came to the village as well.

If their Jutsu is the same, and their physical appearance is the same as well, then one can only draw the conclusion that Moegi faced a bad fate at the hands of these Grimes as well. She was likely bitten by one of them, which gave the 10 Tails access to her chakra and her abilities. As always, her clone is also equipped with the Rinnegan.

Villains Number 3: Isshiki's Clone

Isshiki clone shinju boruto part 6

The third clone is among the more interesting ones and the one who had the most dialogue out of the four new villains in Boruto. This particular clone looks quite a lot like Isshiki. This is hinted at by the fact that he has the same horn that Isshiki had on his head. The facial appearance matches quite a lot as well. Fans know that Isshiki was attacked by Kaguya in the past and half of his body was left behind when he managed to take control of a monk named Jigen.

Isshiki was quite powerful and it appears that a Claw Grime or, the 10 Tails itself, has access to his chakra as well. As such, they have already managed to clone Isshiki and likely have access to all of his abilities as well. It will be interesting to see how strong this version of the God Tree clone is.

Villain Number 4: Sasuke's Clone

Finally, the last villain that Boruto introduced is the God tree clone of none other than Sasuke Uchiha. At some point during the timeskip, Sasuke came head to head with the Claw Grimes and lost the battle. He was bitten by one of them and was turned into a tree. As such, Sasuke is currently a tree in Boruto and all his chakra has been drained out. Using his chakra, a clone of the God Tree has been created and this clone looks exactly like Sasuke and even uses Jutsu similar to him. This clone of the 10 Tails attacked Boruto with Chidori and the latter countered it with his own Rasengan.

He also used one of his hands and turned it into a sword to attack his targets, however, once again, Boruto survived. The abilities of this clone of Sasuke are incredible and he is much stronger than the actual Sasuke that fans know. Not only does he possess two Rinnegan but he also has Chakra of the 10 Tails, which is much greater than Sasuke's own and he has access to the claw mark shinjutsu of Code. It is clear for the fans to see that he's going to be the most competent of the villains and the most difficult to take down, given that he is Boruto's very own mentor and, at the same time, he possesses the biggest arsenal of weapons out of all of the new Boruto villains.

Boruto is available to read via Viz Media. The series can be read by the fans officially and for free on the Shonen Jump and the Manga Plus app. The release date for the next chapter of Boruto, Boruto Part 2 chapter 5, is set to be December 20, 2023.
