Sarada Uchiha is going to fight Hidari, Sasuke's clone, in Boruto.

While he did his job incredibly well in the story, Sasuke certainly did suffer many losses, including that of his powers. However, during the Boruto timeskip, Sasuke might actually have gotten somewhat stronger and that has certainly excited the fans and made them hopeful for the future of this character.

Sasuke's Strength Before The Timeskip

Sasuke Uchiha in Boruto

Before the timeskip of Boruto, Sasuke's strength was largely impressive for the vast majority of the story. At the beginning of the Boruto series, Sasuke was one of the strongest characters in the entire world. In fact, it wouldn't be a stress to say that he was the strongest in the world and this was because his strength was on the same level as that of the Seventh Hokage, Naruto Uzumaki. Kishimoto himself commented on this once and clarified that Sasuke and Naruto were equal in terms of power by adulthood. Sasuke had so much respect in the ninja world that he was widely known as the Other Hokage of Konoha and that just goes to show the strength and pedigree that this character possessed.

In Boruto, Sasuke took part in quite a lot of interesting fights and he certainly did well to excite the fans. Against Kinshiki and Momoshiki, Sasuke showcased what he was truly capable of despite being old. He also fought against other powerful foes, such as Jigen and, while he ended up losing this battle, Sasuke was still somewhat impressive.

However, with time, Sasuke continued to lose his strength. This was a very cheap strategy utilized by the writers of Boruto to cripple the old generation and pave the way for the newer one to take over. Sasuke ended up losing the vast majority of his power. In the case of Naruto, Kurama was stripped of him, and in the case of Sasuke, his Rinnegan was taken away from him. Boruto ended up stabbing Sasuke in the eye and this permanently took away his greatest power from him. After losing his Rinnegan, it goes without saying that Sasuke had weakened quite a bit. However, that certainly didn't mean that Sasuke became incredibly weak. He still has his other skills up his sleeve and it also appears that Sasuke has taken this loss seriously and prepared himself in other ways. In the timeskip of Boruto, Sasuke is believed to be somewhat stronger than before and while it isn't clear how exactly he became stronger, his increased strength is certainly there to witness for all.

Sasuke During The Boruto Timeskip

During the timeskip of Boruto, Sasuke's main role was to train Boruto Uzumaki and help him get stronger. These two characters ended up leaving Konoha for good after Omnipotence took effect and Sasuke decided to help Boruto grow stronger by teaching every single ability that he had to him. Sasuke succeeded in doing that in just a year and he passed on everything that he had to Boruto Uzumaki, which was surprising for even the readers because despite Boruto being a genius, for him to actually master all those abilities in just a year was nothing short of magnificent.

Regardless of that, Sasuke himself might have improved his strength dramatically during this time period as well and this was pointed out later on in the story, when he ended up colliding against strong enemies, such as Code and the army of Claw Grimes. In this incredible fight, Sasuke was able to hold his own and he even managed to take Code's eye from him. He was able to stab his eye and injure him greatly in battle, which is nothing short of extraordinary for a character such as himself.

Boruto Confirms Sasuke To Be Stronger Than Naruto

Sasuke is more powerful than Naruto currently in the Boruto manga.

He even chopped down many claw grimes and for him to do all that and protect Boruto at the same time just goes to show the level of strength that he had hit during the timeskip.

Did Sasuke Get Stronger?

Sasuke certainly did get stronger during the timescape, however, this increase in strength appears to be because of inconsistent writing in the story, rather than Sasuke training. Previously, Sasuke struggled greatly in combat against Jigen. In fact, even when he had Naruto, who was just as strong as him, by his side, Sasuke couldn't even land a single blow on Jigen, which just goes to show that the level of strength that he possessed was far inferior to that of the monk. At the same time, it must be remembered that back then, Sasuke had his Rinnegan as well and that means he had access to Six Paths Powers. Now, he doesn't have access to his Rinnegan, yet, he was able to keep up with Code in combat.

For those who don't remember, Code, after having his limiters unlocked, was supposed to be much stronger than Jigen. For Sasuke to not just hold him at bay in combat for a significant period of time but also take his eye away from him, all the while fighting a claw grimes army as well just goes to show that he did, in fact, grow in strength significantly during the timeskip. Of course, this growth and strength comes from inconsistent writing in Boruto, but, at the end of the day, that is just factual information.

Sasuke's Future In Boruto

Sadly, Sasuke ended up being turned into a tree towards the end of the fight against Code. He had his chakra sucked out from his body and because of that, Hidari, a 10 Tails clone was born. Now, Boruto Uzumaki is on a quest to rescue Sasuke, and in order to do that, he has to defeat the powerful enemies that stand in his path currently.

When Sasuke does return, fans can only hope that he keeps his level of strength and potentially grows even stronger. Sasuke might be old, however, he is still a warrior and he needs to be relevant in Boruto if the series is to succeed. Fans can only hope that Sasuke, along with Naruto, return to the series as soon as possible and take fans down memory lane by showcasing incredible battles once again. Of course, for that to happen, the new God Tree Clones need to be dealt with and, at the same time, Kawaki needs to be defeated by Boruto as well. Once all that happens, Sasuke will return and hopefully, have a better future than he did in the first part of the story.

Boruto is available to read via Viz Media. The series can be read by the fans officially and for free on the Shonen Jump and the Manga Plus app. The release date for the next chapter of Boruto, Boruto Part 2 chapter 6, is set to be January 20, 2023.
