Code's left eye is a mystery right now.

These characters are, of course, Naruto Uzumaki and Sasuke Uchiha. Comparing the two, Naruto was certainly dealt the worst fate as he was sealed away towards the end of Boruto Part 1. This process was incredibly shocking for all the fans, however, many who believed that Naruto would end up dying were certainly relieved to know that that wasn't the case. Instead, he was sealed away and even after 3 years have passed in the Naruto world, he still has not made his return. Of course, at some point, Naruto will be unsealed, however, fans will have to wait to see how that happens.

How Naruto Was Sealed

The process of sealing Naruto Uzumaki was carried out by none other than his foster son, Kawaki, who fans know to be a very conflicted character. While he isn't evil at heart, his actions certainly make him so. Kawaki was taken in by Naruto when he had no one to turn to and, in a way, he was given a completely new life by him.

Whereas Jigen tortured and abused him every single day, Naruto gave him the love and comfort that a parent should give to a child. Naturally, Kawaki became incredibly attached to Naruto to the point where he would kill anyone who would bring harm to him. This was especially the case because Naruto ended up sacrificing a big portion of his powers just to save this one child, Kawaki. The boy certainly did realize what a great sacrifice Naruto made for him. The Hokage had made himself vulnerable, all for the sake of a young child and, realizing that, Kawaki took it upon himself to protect him from there onwards. Of course, protecting him would mean killing all the members of the Otsutsuki Clan.

This wasn't an easy task to take on, given that all of them are incredibly overpowered and the vast majority have not even been seen in the series at this point. However, he knew that one was living in his very presence and that was Boruto Uzumaki. There is no doubt that Kawaki harbors love for Boruto, however, in order to save Naruto, he would not hesitate in killing Boruto as well. That is precisely why he sealed Naruto and his wife, Hinata, away. In his mind, all this is being done to keep Naruto safe because one day, Momoshiki could take over and kill Naruto. Towards the end of Boruto Part 1, Kawaki decided to reveal his plan to Naruto and proceeded by sealing him.

Immediately after Kawaki sealed Naruto Uzumaki, he went ahead with his plan and attempted to kill Boruto. The two fought over the Hokage faces and this battle was quite intense. When Sarada interfered, he did not hesitate in trying to kill her, which ended up leading to Boruto losing his eye because he attempted to get her out of the way. Kawaki would certainly have continued his attempt to murder Boruto, however, at the right time, Sasuke and the Konoha Shinobi showed up. This only meant that Boruto Uzumaki was now safe, however, he had to escape or face the punishment for not just sealing Naruto, but also attacking Boruto.

Boruto: Every Character Who Could've Been A Better Hokage Than Shikamaru

These characters would do a better job as Hokage than Shikamaru in Boruto part 2.

Momoshiki ended up providing an opportunity to escape to Kawaki and he took it with both hands, only to realize later that escape was nearly impossible. This is precisely where Ada came in and she decided to help Kawaki by bringing his innermost desires to life. This is precisely where Boruto and Kawaki switched their lives and Boruto was branded as the killer of the Seventh Hokage. 3 years have passed since then and Naruto continues to remain in the dimension of Daikokuten. In this dimension, time doesn't flow, meaning Naruto hasn't aged a single day. There is no need to eat or sleep in this dimension and, in a way, Kawaki is preserving Naruto Uzumaki.

When Will Naruto Be Unsealed?

naruto uzumaki boruto time-skip

Naruto Uzumaki will most definitely be unsealed in Boruto Part 2. This process is most likely going to be carried out after the fight between Boruto and Kawaki takes place. For now, Konoha is under attack by Code and every Konoha Shinobi has to deal with this attack first. It appears that Boruto Uzumaki is the one who's currently taking care of it and, once that happens, it is possible that a fight between Boruto and Kawaki will break out. However, it doesn't look like this is the fight that fans saw in the prologue of the series. Most likely, Boruto Uzumaki will continue in his endeavors after, and Kawaki will only fight against him much later in the story. When that clash happens, Kawaki reveals that he will send Boruto to the same place where he sent the Seventh Hokage. This means that, until that point in the story, Naruto Uzumaki will still be sealed and that is certainly far away.

It also means that the only way Naruto can be unsealed is if Kawaki is taken down. Of course, this does not mean that Kawaki needs to be killed. It only means that Boruto needs to bring his brother back to his senses. This means these two characters will have to fight akin to how Naruto and Sasuke fought at the end of Naruto. After these two characters clash and Kawaki comes back to his senses, it is highly likely that Naruto Uzumaki will be freed from the dimension of Daikokuten and successfully rescued.

How Strong Is Naruto In Boruto?

Naruto Uzumaki New Powers In Boruto

Naruto's strength has been quite inconsistent in Boruto. At the beginning of the series, he was at the peak of his powers and could even take on strong enemies such as Momoshiki and even Isshiki. With Baryon Mode, Naruto could easily counter the threat of Isshiki, however, the price for this was massive. He ended up losing Kurama, meaning that his own power level decreased dramatically. When that happened, Naruto became very weak when compared to the other powerful characters in the story. Once Naruto is unsealed, fans can expect him to be just as strong as he was when he was sealed. This means that, in comparison to the other characters in the story, Naruto would still be very weak.

However, that doesn't mean he will always stay this way. After all, Naruto is the Child of Prophecy and, for him, being strong is important. Naruto could train himself in several other arts and make up for the power that he lost. He could also contact other Tailed Beasts and gain their powers. Above all, Naruto could have his former power restored to him if a technique such as Omnipotence is brought into play. Fans can rest assured that whatever happens, Naruto Uzumaki will return as a strong fighter and will continue to defend his village to the best of his abilities.

Boruto is available to read via Viz Media. The series can be read by the fans officially and for free on the Shonen Jump and the Manga Plus app. The release date for the next chapter of Boruto, Boruto Part 2 Chapter 3, is set to be October 20, 2023.
