These Naruto mysteries finally received an answer in Boruto.

At the same time, fans also got to see quite a lot of new villains in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex immediately after the timeskip. This is especially true for chapter 4 of the new Boruto series as it introduced fans to quite a lot of interesting and powerful villains, and, much to the surprise of the fans, all of them are wielders of the powerful Rinnegan.

The Shinju Clones In Boruto

In Boruto: Two Blue Vortex, a new villain that's finally been introduced the strength of which far surpasses even Code. This was essential to the plot, especially since Boruto Uzumaki made quick work of Code. Fans believed Code to be exceptionally powerful, yet he posed no challenge to Boruto when the two fought after the timeskip. This was somewhat disappointing to them, given that a lot of expectations were placed on Code, especially since he was the only active villain in the story at this point.

With Code being somewhat irrelevant when it comes to villains, there was a new need for stronger villains and that is exactly what Boruto Chapter 4 delivered to the fans. Immediately after Boruto returned from the timeskip, he made it clear that he needed to deal with the 10 Tails first of all. This is because Boruto had seen the horrors of the 10 Tails and knew what would happen if it was allowed to let loose. Of course, Code did not help him and this is exactly what led to the birth of these four new villains in Boruto.

Boruto: Two Blue Vortex chapter 4 made it quite clear to the fans that these new villains were born directly from the 10 Tails. Essentially, Code used his claw marks to shrink down the 10 Tails into much smaller versions. These humanoid 10 Tails clones, called Claw Grimes, were unleashed by Code on his enemies. It appears that they simply move towards the nearest source of chakra and bite them.

Whoever possesses chakra becomes a target for them and when they do bite them, they start turning into miniature God Trees. The chakra of the person is completely sucked out and they are rendered unconscious, getting trapped within these trees as a result. At the same time, all their data, such as their chakra patterns and their abilities are taken in by the tree, which gives it all the information that it needs to create a perfect clone of this exact person. Given that these clones stem from the 10 Tails itself, they are also born with the power of the Rinnegan.

Boruto: TBV chapter 4 revealed 4 of these clones to the fans for the very first time. Bug, who was one of the assistants to Code, was turned into these clones, and was the first one that fans saw in action. Bug attacked Boruto, and when that happened, it was clear for everyone to see that Boruto wasn't strong enough to take it down. Immediately after, three more similar clones were revealed, with one being a beloved character that fans already know.

New Rinnegan Users

Boruto: Two Blue Vortex strengthens its villain lineup by making all of these new clones Rinnegan users. Fans know the Rinnegan to be an exceptionally powerful eye that only a handful of people can possess. Of course, those who have the power of the Ten Tails or those of the Uchiha, who have access to the powers of Hagoromo can awaken this eye. And, as fans know, some of the Otsutsuki also have access to the Rinnegan. Fans already know that the 10 Tails is equipped with a Rinnegan. This Rinnegan can be seen within the clones as well.

The previous 10 Tails that fans saw in Naruto had a Rinne Sharingan. The new one seems to have just a Rinnegan, for some reason. Regardless of that, it is only natural that some of the clones that the 10 Tails produced by shrinking down had the Rinnegan too. The strongest of the clones, which only just appeared in Boruto, all have the powerful Rinnegan in both their eyes, which makes them even stronger.

Fans already know how dangerous this eye is and for them to simply wield it without any repercussions would mean that they are catastrophic for the earth, in general.

These villains are too powerful for anyone to contend with at this point in time and Boruto Uzumaki alone certainly is not enough. Currently, this villain squad remains unnamed. Fans only know that there are four of them and one of them is a clone of Bug, while another is a clone of none other than Sasuke Uchiha. There is another woman who appears to be a clone of Moegi, since she used the same Earth Style Jutsu as her and the physical appearance matches as well. The fourth clone appears to be that of Isshiki, however, fans do not know how this one came into existence since the 10 Tails would need some sort of DNA to clone it in the first place.

How Strong Is Their Rinnegan?

Sasuke's Rinnegan

Fans already know how strong the Rinnegan is. This eye is believed to be magnificent and can do things that are believed to be godly. Essentially, the Rinnegan gives the user control of six powerful abilities, known as Six Paths Powers. Each path gives them control over a certain special ability, such as summoning animals, manipulation of souls, mechanizing their bodies, controlling the hellish realm, the ability to absorb all ninjutsu and chakra, and, of course, the power to attract and repel. There's also a 7th path that gives the user the ability to control life and death itself.

Easily, one can see that the Rinnegan is the most powerful eye to exist in Naruto. The fact that these characters wield the Rinnegan with tremendous power and without any repercussions means that they are going to be extremely powerful. What's even more, Sasuke's clone might even have a tomoed Rinnegan under his flap that fans haven't seen just yet. The strength of these individuals is going to be incredible for the fans to witness and it is clear that they cannot be taken down just by anyone. Such strong Rinnegan users need to be combated by equally powerful enemies and that means Boruto Uzumaki, Sarada Uchiha, Mitsuki, and potentially even Code will need to be on their best game in order to take them down.

For now, these powerful Rinnegan users are beaming with powers and, what is scary is that they are continually evolving even now. They intend to keep growing and it doesn't seem like they will stop anytime soon in Boruto. Finally, the series has a bunch of competent villains, and fans can only hope that they deliver a stellar performance in the upcoming chapters and arcs.

Boruto is available to read via Viz Media. The series can be read by the fans officially and for free on the Shonen Jump and the Manga Plus app. The release date for the next chapter of Boruto, Boruto Part 2 chapter 5, is set to be December 20, 2023.
