Boruto Part 2 Chapter 2 dropped recently and it was certainly an exciting chapter for the fans to witness. The series did incredibly well to continue from where it left off with great intensity. So far, the story is, expectedly, in the build-up phases and a lot of focus is on revealing new bits of information about what transpired during the timeskip and, at the same time, setting up major battles for the first arc of part 2 of Boruto.

Of course, in the midst of all the action that fans saw in Boruto Part 2, there were also key bits of information revealed. One of them was pertaining to Code's eye that was slashed at some point in the story. This came as a surprise to the fans when they first saw it and it still remains quite an intriguing plot point.

How Boruto Left Konoha

The timeskip of Borutowas forced by Kawaki when he attempted to kill Boruto after sealing away Naruto and Hinata. Kawaki sought out his brother and attempted to kill him atop the Hokage faces. It appeared that he was going to succeed in this mission, however, the ninjas of Konoha showed up in the right place at the right time and stopped this from happening. While Kawaki was essentially done at this point, it was Momoshiki who ended up giving him an opportunity to escape. Naturally, he took it with both hands and successfully found a way out, only to realize later that escaping the entire village was actually impossible for him. That is precisely when the unexpected happened and Ada showed up in order to aid him in escaping.

She used her Omnipotence ability unknowingly to bring his wishes to life. Kawaki successfully triggered the switching of lives between Boruto and him. With that, he was recognized as the true son of Naruto Uzumaki. Meanwhile, Boruto was recognized as the orphan boy they took in and who repaid them with treachery by murdering the Seventh Hokage. That is precisely when Boruto escaped from the village and Sasuke, thanks to Sarada, aided him.

With that, the three-year time skip of Boruto finally began and it ended with the return of Boruto Uzumaki in Konoha only a while back. Essentially, this event is what Momoshiki teased from the very beginning of the story, when he suggested that blue eyes would one day take everything away from him. That is exactly what ended up happening when Omnipotence was triggered by Ada. Boruto had to live a very difficult life but, given that he had many tasks at hand, among which was also saving his own father, he had no other choice but to put himself through adversity and rise to the top. By the looks of it, he has done just that.

Boruto's Timeskip Fight With Code

Fans do not know much about what transpired during the 3-year time skip of Boruto. It is a known fact that Boruto Uzumaki is among the strongest in the world right now, however, how exactly he got there and what obstacles he had to push himself past remains unknown. There are certain things that fans can guess, however. One of them is certainly the fact that Sasuke drilled every piece of knowledge about ninja arts that he knew into Boruto. He turned him into a phenomenal ninja who can hold his own against even the likes of Code effortlessly.

This is evident from the fact that Boruto wears the clothes of Sasuke and has a similar fighting style to him. Fans also know that Boruto has actually found out quite a lot about the horrors of the Ten-Tails during the timeskip. How exactly he did that and what ended up happening with the 10 tails remains to be seen. However, Boruto is convinced that Code will bring disaster upon the world. The obvious hint here is that either Sasuke revealed the horrors of the actual 10 Tails from the Fourth Great Ninja War to him, or, they recently found out the direction the world was headed in.

Most importantly, fans know that at some point during the timeskip, Boruto and Kawaki fought. This likely happened one year after Boruto left the village, as Code revealed it to be 2 years ago. The two ended up fighting and, given that Code was likely stronger than Boruto at the point, it was likely a two-on-one battle. Sasuke would certainly have aided Boruto in this fight in an attempt to push through and successfully deal with Code. That said, it is quite clear that both Sasuke and Boruto were on the run from him, for one reason or another.

How Code Lost His Eye

Code In Boruto Naruto Next Generations

It is during the fight between Boruto and Code that he ended up losing his left eye. Fans do not know for sure if it was Boruto Uzumaki who took his eye. What Boruto Part 2 Chapter 2 confirmed was that these two ended up fighting two years ago and in this confrontation, Code ended up losing his eye. Fans also know that Code was the one who was chasing them across for 2 years, meaning the fight at that point was likely even. This lessens the chances of Boruto taking his eye in a one-on-one duel. If Code was weaker than Boruto he would not have been chasing him for 2 years.

This suggests that Sasuke Uchiha was a part of this fight and, in that case, it could have been a two-on-one battle where Code had his back turned against the wall. Naturally, dealing with two elite ninjas would be extremely difficult, even for someone like Code. This would give Boruto the perfect opportunity to take his eye and perhaps, that is what ended up happening. It is also entirely possible that the one who took his eye was none other than Sasuke Uchiha. Fans know him to be an elite ninja and a skilled swordsman. If anyone is capable of rivaling code, it's certainly him. Still, this was not enough as Code was largely unhurt apart from his eye injury. At the same time, the fact that he still kept chasing them meant that he still believed that he was stronger, to quite a degree.

Will Code Die?

The fate of Code from here onwards is something that fans are incredibly excited to see. For one, the story is being built up as if Code is only going to be a minor antagonist here. In Boruto Part 2 Chapter 2, The young Uzumaki made it quite clear that dealing with Code was actually easy for him. This suggests that Boruto took a massive jump in terms of skill from when they fought the last time. His current level of strength would also explain why he is so confident when it comes to defeating Code. Boruto even repeatedly asked Code to save his own life by helping him out.

Naturally, he rejected the proposition and that is precisely why he could end up facing death. Fans know for a fact that Boruto is not like Naruto. He isn't going to spare Code or forgive him. Boruto took his inspiration directly from Sasuke and he is a very cold and calculating figure when it comes to dealing with enemies. Boruto Uzumaki is not going to show him any mercy and, if his statement about being much stronger than Code is true, then fans might actually see him dying in the next chapter of Boruto.

The fact is that Code's life is hanging by a thread and it is only a matter of time before his story arc comes to an end. At the end of the day, Code is not a villain who's going to live long. Even if he doesn't die in this confrontation, he is not going to survive as, in the overarching plot of the series, he is not involved as much. Furthermore, a new threat is being set up, thanks to the Claw Mark Grimes created by Code. According to Boruto, they are a much bigger threat and it is only a matter of time before fans get to see how things turn out.

Boruto is available to read via Viz Media. The series can be read by the fans officially and for free on the Shonen Jump and the Manga Plus app. The release date for the next chapter of Boruto, Boruto Part 2 Chapter 3, is set to be October 20, 2023.
