The following contains spoilers for Boruto chapter 80, "What Dad Would Do!," by Masashi Kishimoto, illustrated by Mikio Ikemoto, and translated by Mari Morimoto, available in English from Viz Media.

Boruto recently released its chapter 80 and, it's safe to say that this month's chapter lived up to the expectations set by last month's developments, and the authors managed to knock it out of the park. While this month's chapter was not nearly as intense as the previous one, it was extremely important in order for the story to advance.

It picked up right from where the last one left off and managed to add a lot more to the events that were already ongoing. At the same time, the chapter didn't entirely focus on Boruto Uzumaki and Kawaki. Fans also got to see other advancements in the plot and some of them were quite shocking to witness. That said, Boruto chapter 80 was certainly extremely impressive with lots to dissect.

Sarada's Mangekyo Sharingan

Sarada boruto chapter 80

Sarada Uchiha ended up becoming one of the key focuses of Boruto chapter 80. As soon as the news about Naruto Uzumaki having died spread across the village, Sarada started feeling uneasy. Fans already know how much Naruto has meant to her, and ever since growing up, Sarada has looked up to him as a role model as well as a mentor. If that's not enough, Naruto has boldly claimed that the entire village is his family on several occasions. In more than one way, Naruto has been a parent to Sarada as well, especially since Sasuke was not around for so long in her life. For Sarada to have lost him certainly shook her to the very core.

At the same time, the fear of losing Boruto Uzumaki as well definitely affected her quite a bit. Sarada is one of the only two people that the fans know to have remained unaffected by the Omnipotence Shinjutsu for some reason. Other than them, only characters who possess Otsutsuki blood remain unaffected. The fact that the entire village was pursuing Boruto and looking to kill him meant that he would die almost certainly and this, when combined with the sense of loss that was brought forth by hearing about the death of Naruto Uzumaki ended up triggering the awakening of Sarada's Mangekyo Sharingan.

Sasuke Makes His Mind

Sasuke boruto chapter 80 (1)

Sasuke Uchiha was another major focus of Boruto chapter 80. In the previous chapter, fans were left wondering if the Shinjutsu Omnipotence affected Sasuke as well. This chapter answered their question and it seems that Sasuke has been affected, despite having half of Hagoromo Otsutsuki's chakra. Nonetheless, Sasuke is a very shrewd character. In his mind, he put two and two together quickly and realized that some of his memories do not align with the current situation. For instance, he could feel Momoshiki's presence inside Boruto yet according to his memories, Momoshiki was sealed within Kawaki. At the same time, Sasuke also saw his daughter defending Boruto and that was enough for him to make his decision.

Sasuke realized that he cannot trust his memories anymore as they have been compromised so he decided to trust his daughter and made up his mind immediately. When Konoha shinobi were closing in on Boruto, he was the one who came to his rescue and managed to take him to safety. A quick conversation with Ada moments later ended up revealing the truth about Boruto and Kawaki to Sasuke. Expectedly, this means good things for Boruto, who would have been on his own otherwise, however, now he has Sasuke to aid him.

The Timeskip Of Boruto

boruto time skip boruto chapter 80

Fans have been waiting for the time skip of Boruto for quite a long time and it appears that the time is now, after all. Boruto chapter 80 was likely the last chapter that preceded the timeskip of the story. Right now, Boruto Uzumaki and Sasuke Uchiha have successfully managed to leave the village and they are not being tracked by the Senrigan anymore. This means that the only way for them to go is to move forward and get stronger in an attempt to rescue Naruto Uzumaki and save Kawaki from being consumed by his own self at the same time. Currently, there are three major factions for the fans to keep track of during the timeskip. The first one is, quite obviously, the group of Sasuke Uchiha and Boruto Uzumaki. These two are heading out to the village in an attempt to get stronger. It is quite apparent that Boruto will be trained by Sasuke during the timeskip and learn abilities that will help him grow as a Shinobi.

The second group to keep track of is that of Sarada Uchiha. It isn't known who will train Sarada during the timeskip just yet. There is quite a good possibility that Sarada will end up being trained by her mother as there doesn't seem to be anyone else around at the moment. The fact that she has the Mangekyo Sharingan means that she has a lot of room to grow. Meanwhile, Kawaki, who is also in the village, will train to attain a level of power where he can take down Otsutsuki Momoshiki. As things stand, he lacks this power, so getting stronger is the only way for him to move forward. Finally, fans would also need to keep track of Code, who has had everything stripped away from him and is out in search of vengeance. Code will go on devouring chakra fruits and attempt to get to a level that Shibai Otsutsuki reached in the past.

Evidently, the timeskip of Boruto is here and for that reason, and for providing a deep dive into many characters, Boruto chapter 80 was phenomenal.
