With both Season Passes complete for Borderlands 3, Borderlands fans have been getting excited about the possibility of a new game. As it turns out, they could be getting it soon, with the future of Borderlands likely being a spinoff focused on the explosive Tiny Tina.

Supposedly called Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands, the game was part of a massive 2K leak last week. While many things were revealed, like the next NBA 2K cover athlete and a Marvel project with gameplay like XCOM, the Tiny Tina game is arguably the most exciting. With the character only having a small bit of screen time in Borderlands 3, getting more Tina is a welcome surprise. Today, fans received more evidence about the game existing, as well as when it will be revealed.

A tweet from the official Summer Game Fest account hyped up the reveal, specifying that a new game from Gearbox and 2K would appear at the June 10 event. While many automatically assumed that this Summer Game Fest teaser was for the Tiny Tina game, Twitter user @Wario64 confirmed as much by showing the official website’s code. The word "wonderlands" is found in several sections, with material for the reveal scattered throughout the web page. With a dormant Twitter account being discovered for Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands too, it is hard to have any doubts about the reveal being imminent.

With this leak being particularly damning, the Borderlands fan base has a good reason to be excited about the game. Tiny Tina has not had any Borderlands content focused on her since Borderlands 2’s Assault on Dragon Keep, an expansion that has remained a fan favorite over half a decade after its release. If Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands is anything like that content, it will place Tina in the role of narrator as gamers explore worlds that she makes up on the fly. With anything able to happen in the story, it could keep gamers engaged from beginning to end.

As for what type of game Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands will be, the original leak stated that it is similar in style to the usual Borderlands game. This means that players will likely have several Vault Hunters to choose from, with the main gameplay loop being a hunt for better guns and specific gear builds. While some new mechanics could be introduced like Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands will likely be in the looter shooter style that everyone loves. Still, with nothing confirmed, fans should not have expectations about the gameplay until they see it themselves.

Based on this new leak, gamers have yet another reason to be excited about E3 — especially if they love Tiny Tina. With the character also getting time to shine in the upcoming Borderlands movie, it seems like she is a big part of the franchise’s future.

Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands is rumored to be in development.
