Fans of the Borderlands series are once again in for a treat as a new Shift code has been revealed and ready to be redeemed for free Golden Keys. Developer Gearbox Software has been keeping its tradition of giving away freebies for a while now, and Shift codes are always a great reason for Borderlands players to come and revisit their favorite looter shooter games.

The Borderlands franchise has grown significantly ever since the original Borderlands game was released in 2009. The entire franchise now consists of seven games, including spin-off titles such as Tales from the Borderlands, New Tales from the Borderlands, and Tiny Tina's Wonderlands. Most of the entries offer great replayability, particularly the ones with the looter shooter mechanics, where players can get fresh loot for free with the help of Shift codes.

The latest Shift code was recently shared by Gearbox's co-founder Randy Pitchford. The Shift code in question is: TTRT3-BK5ZT-XCJW5-B3JJJ-JXXXJ. Players can redeem the code via the official Shift website, or via the Shift Menu of each game. The code expires on September 7, 2023, 10 AM CT. Once redeemed, it will give players three Golden Keys in Borderlands 3, Borderlands 2, and Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, as well as three Skeleton Keys in Tiny Tina's Wonderlands. These can then be used to open a special chest in the hub area of each game, which contain high-rarity equipment.

For Borderlands 3, this might be a great chance for players to experience its latest update. Borderlands 3 recently received an update that adds quite a lot of stuff, including an updated interface for the Shift Menu. Unlike in Borderlands 2, the Golden Chest in Borderlands 3 can sometimes spawn legendary gear when opened. The gear will scale to the player's current level, so it's always a good idea to save these Golden Keys for later after redeeming them.

Recently, Gearbox also launched Borderlands Collection: Pandora's Box, a massive bundle that contains all the games in the franchise — except for Tiny Tina's Wonderlands — giving new players an opportunity to experience the chaotic fun that the franchise always offers. The new Shift code will naturally come as a boon for buyers of the collection, especially those who are having a hard time in their new playthrough. It might not give players access to the bajillion guns that the franchise promises, but it can certainly provide them with some of the best ones available.

Borderlands fans will have a lot to look up to next year, particularly with the planned release of the Borderlands movie. With a new Shift code in tow, this might be a great time to get to know of the world of Pandora and beyond.

Borderlands Collection: Pandora's Box is now available on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
