A new Borderlands 3 event has begun that has players diving back into the game in order to earn rewards by completing event challenges, much like the previous Bloody Harvest event. This time around players can opt-out of the event if they wish to not participate in it but they would be missing out on a pretty powerful Maliwan SMG, the Polyaimorous.

With the Broken Hearts Day event going live in Borderlands 3, players will begin to see hearts at random that will fly around the map. Destroying these floating hearts can potentially spawn Loot Ghosts, much like from the Bloody Harvest event, that have a greater chance of dropping legendary loot.

These hearts are tied to challenges that will eventually lead the player to unlock the Polyaimorous SMG in Borderlands 3 when they destroy 50 hearts. It may take a bit of time but once the 50 hearts are destroyed as part of the Broken Hearts Day event in Borderlands 3, the player will receive the Polyaimorous along with other free rewards in their mailbox.

The Polyaimorous is a Maliwan branded SMG in Borderlands 3 that can switch between the shock and incendiary element, and it will drop at the new max level cap which is 53.

In terms of what the gun actually does, when shooting an enemy the beam chains either the shock or incendiary damage to other nearby enemies, which can be great for clearing out multiple enemies at once. Players must watch out though as when they begin a damage chain on enemies, the chain will not link to new enemies that may spawn in. As a tip, from time to time the player should stop shooting and restart the chain in order to max out the effectiveness of the weapon.

The Polyaimorous in Borderlands 3 may struggle a bit with the chaining inconsistencies but the gun pretty much melts enemies even on Mayhem 4 difficulty. Overall, the weapon is a pretty solid choice for players that like Maliwan weapons and should be earned along with the other event rewards before the Broken Hearts Day event and challenges go away.

Borderlands 3 is out now for PS4, Xbox One, Stadia, and PC.
