After years of fervent fan demand, Gearbox Software and 2K Games finally confirm that Borderlands 3 will be releasing on October 6 for Nintendo Switch. The new Nintendo Switch version releases four years after the initial launch of Borderlands 3 in September 2019, and gamers who choose to opt for this version will have hundreds of hours of content to explore.

After Handsome Jack's defeat in Borderlands 2, the Children of the Vault attempt to fill the empty throne in Borderlands 3. Vault Hunters return to Pandora in order to recover a lost Vault map that's in the possession of Troy and Tyreen, the leaders of the Children of the Vault. The story takes Borderlands 3 players to planets and Vaults outside of Pandora, however. Nintendo Switch gamers will be able to experience Borderlands 3 for the first time this October.

In a tweet from the official Borderlands Twitter account, Gearbox and 2K announced that Borderlands 3 Ultimate Edition releases on October 6 for Nintendo Switch. Borderlands 3 Ultimate Edition includes the base game, over 30 additional cosmetic items, and all six DLC packs for $59.99 on Nintendo Switch. These DLC packs include Moxxi's Heist of the Handsome Jackpot, Guns, Love, and Tentacles: The Marriage of Wainwright & Hammerlock, Bounty of Blood, Psycho Krieg and the Fantastic Fustercluck, Designer's Cut, and Director's Cut. Moreover, the Nintendo Switch version supports local and online co-op, allowing friends to team up and secure tons of loot together. Details about the Nintendo Switch version's performance were not revealed yet.

Pre-orders for the Borderlands 3 Ultimate Edition physical edition are now available at participating retailers, including GameStop. Borderlands Collection: Pandora's Box was also announced alongside the Nintendo Switch release of Borderlands 3. This new collection will release on September 1 featuring Borderlands, Borderlands 2, Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, Tales from the Borderlands, Borderlands 3, and New Tales from the Borderlands. All the previously released DLC will be included for the respective titles. Borderlands Collection: Pandora's Box will not be released on Nintendo Switch.

The announcement puts years of rumors to rest since Nintendo Switch gamers may look forward to Borderlands 3 with certainty. Borderlands 3 continues to be a popular title with new mods and builds being crafted, and the Nintendo Switch version could extend its longevity even further. The game's performance and post-launch support may be the determining factors for the success of the Nintendo Switch.
