Fans of Borderlands 3 are in for a treat this week with the arrival of DLC 2 known as Love, Guns, and Tentacles. The new content continues the tradition established in Moxxi's Heist of the Handsome Jackpot by introducing classic characters in a new way, with Gaige the Mechromancer acting as a wedding planner for the grooms. However, the upcoming expansion isn't the only content planned for the next couple of months as Gearbox Software has revealed even more new details for the near future of the game.

In the latest episode of The Borderlands Show, Anthony Nicholson, who serves as the Head of DLC Production at Gearbox, announced that the current level cap in Borderlands 3 will be going up once again from 53 to 57. The move will not only give players four additional skill points to use, but they'll also be able to finish two skill trees for the final capstone ability.

Besides the level cap increase and new expansion, Borderlands 3 is getting two additional free content updates in April. The highly anticipated Mayhem Mode 2.0 finally makes its debut in the game, bringing with it over 25 new modifiers to play around with and 10 Mayhem levels to play through. Each level features a mix of modifiers to balance out the difficulty and a few unique ones that have no impact on difficulty like Big Head Mode.

April's other big update sees the return of the Saurian Maurice for the Revenge of the Cartels seasonal event. Players who participate will have to take out Cartel operatives in the game to reach a target goal. One achieved, Maurice will send players to a new location called the Mansion where they'll take part in an intense boss battle. The faction and combat area will change with each playthrough. The event lasts for six weeks but similar to Broken Hearts Day, players can toggle it off at any time.

For those supporting streamers on Twitch, Gearbox is also kicking off a new ECHOcast Extension event. Fans can utilize Twitch's premium currency Twitch Bits while allowing viewers to create special Moxxtails to buff streamers.

Players have a lot to look forward to with Borderlands 3 with the biggest piece being the Love, Guns, and Tentacles expansion launching in full this week. While the expansion centers on the marriage of Wainwright Jakobs and Alistair Hammerlock, players will be heading to the new planet of Xylourgos. Described as a harsh, windswept ice world, the planet is also home to a cult the worships a corpse of a massive creature. Naturally, this wedding is going to get interrupted by enemies that appear to be inspired by Lovecraftian lore.

Borderlands 3 is out now for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
