Last fall, Borderlands 3 ran the Bloody Harvest event, which was a limited-time event that let players complete specific challenges in exchange for exclusive rewards. A similar event, Broken Hearts Day, is now live in the game, and Borderlands 3 fans have discovered a new loot farm with it that will let players farm legendary gear to their heart's content.

As detailed by Glitching Queen on YouTube, Borderlands 3 players can farm the golden loot hearts in the Borderlands 3 Broken Hearts Day event pretty easily at the Cistern of Slaughter. At the Cistern of Slaughter, players need to activate the first wave of the gauntlet, which should trigger some skags with golden hearts to spawn. Destroy the golden hearts and collect the legendary gear that drops. Then fast-travel back to the Cistern of Slaughter starting point at the top of the elevator and repeat the process.

In Glitching Queen's experience, skags with golden hearts spawned about 44 percent of the time, with 60 percent chance of legendary loot drops. She also pointed out how this method is significantly easier to farm legendary weapons in Borderlands 3 than fighting bosses, so fans should take advantage of it while the Broken Hearts Day event is still live in the game.

Glitching Queen has a couple of warnings for Borderlands 3 players who are using this Broken Hearts Day legendary loot farm method, though. For one, players will want to make sure to destroy all of the barrels in the arena before spawning in the skags. The reason for this is that if these barrels explode and destroy the golden hearts, then they won't drop loot. Secondly, fans will want to be sure to try to only shoot the golden hearts. Other hearts unleash area of effect damage that, like the barrels, can destroy the golden hearts and keep players from getting their loot.

A couple of other tips Borderlands 3 players will want to keep in mind when doing the Broken Hearts Day legendary loot farm is that they will want the game set to Mayhem 4 so that the loot quality is much higher, and they will want to make sure that the event is actually active. Unlike the Bloody Harvest event, Broken Hearts Day can be toggled on and off, so if hearts aren't spawning, players may want to double check to see that the event is even active for them.

Borderlands 3 players that want to take advantage of this Broken Hearts Day legendary loot farm are running out of time to do so. The Broken Hearts Day event ends on February 20, so there's just a few days left to collect as much legendary gear as possible. Players should try to hit the new Borderlands 3 level cap of 53 to maximize the potential of their loot and get to farming as soon as possible.

Borderlands 3 is out now for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
