Since the very first installment of the franchise, DLC has played an integral role within Borderlands. Every major release in the Borderlands series has featured additional content by way of DLC campaigns, extra playable characters, or downloadable skins. However, some DLC campaigns stand out much more significantly than others and as of today, one of the most popular Borderlands DLC campaigns is available for standalone purchase.

In addition to streamlined gameplay mechanics and the infamous Handsome Jack, Borderlands 2 brought so many new elements to the table. To the point where it set the standard for every subsequent Borderlands entry. Among its various DLC campaigns that were released, Tiny Tina's Assault on Dragon Keep stood out to many fans. Now, players can experience the iconic DLC campaign on next-gen systems.

Earlier today, the official Borderlands Twitter account announced that Tiny Tina's Assault on Dragon Keep is now available for standalone purchase on next-gen systems, under the title Tiny Tina's Assault on Dragon Keep: A Wonderlands One-Shot Adventure. In addition to next-gen, the campaign is also available for purchase on last-gen systems and PC. It was also announced by Gearbox Software that the re-release includes new cosmetics and loot for players to collect.

In addition to releasing on nearly all major platforms for $9.99, Tiny Tina's Assault on Dragon Keep is also available for free on the Epic Games Store until November 16. It's exciting to see such a beloved DLC campaign release on updated systems. Given that DLC campaigns are a separate part of the primary game, it's somewhat unexpected for players to have this campaign available for standalone purchase.

Many players cite Tiny Tina's Assault on Dragon Keep as one of the best DLC campaigns in the Borderlands series. Aside from the eccentricities of Tiny Tina herself, the campaign possesses rather unique framing. Few other video game DLC campaigns have been framed around a Dungeons & Dragons style tabletop game. With such a unique concept controlled by such a unique character, it certainly left a lasting impression on many who played it.

The standalone release is also a helpful way for players to get caught up on the story before playing Tiny Tina's Wonderland, a Borderlands spin-off game that takes place directly after Assault on Dragon Keep. This will hopefully give fans of the series a unique opportunity to experience the DLC campaign on newer systems as a way to prepare for the upcoming spin-off game.

Tiny Tina's Assault on Dragon Keep: A Wonderlands One-Shot Adventure is now available for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
