In case new players are struggling to choose between the massive list of items Borderlands 2 has to offer, here is a list of 10 of the best weapons to help players in their playthrough.

Borderlands 2 is a first-person shooter game developed by Gearbox Software that came out in 2012. Players select from a variety of Vault Hunters and go on a journey across Pandora to open a new alien vault.

The game is praised for bringing RPG character-building elements and item crafting, then mixing them in with the first-person shooter genre. Borderlands 2 has recently made a resurgence on the Nintendo Switch and Epic Games Store, so we decided to help compile a list of some items that are sure to help out the vault hunters.

Best Guns in Borderlands 2

One of the first guns that will help in playthroughs is the "Flying Sand Hawk" SMG. Players can get this SMG from the Borderland's 2 DLC titled "Captain Scarlet," and equipping it with the flying prefix and Dahl parts will deal massive damage to enemies.

In terms of grenades, the "Chain Lightning" grenade is a good weapon that's obtainable in Tiny Tina's Assault on the Dragon Keep DLC. This grenade lets players hit enemies without aiming and enables the player to regenerate health while holding it when paired with a Moxie Gun.

The Lyuda sniper rifle is great for dealing massive damage but has issues with ammo consumption. It can be obtained from "The Good, The Bad, and the Mordecai mission."

The Potential Interfacer Shotgun is one of the better shotguns in the game at a medium-close range. However, getting it may prove difficult since players have to beat Voracidous the Invincible, which can be troublesome for new players.

The Fastball grenade mod is obtainable from Boll and Three Horns Divide. It has the highest base damage for all projectile items and players can get it fairly early in the game.

The Monstrous Pimpernel is awarded for completing the "Don't Copy that Floppy" from the Captain Scarlet DLC. The bullets from this gun split upon impact, so aiming just below critical areas will deal more than just normal critical damage.

The Evisceration Grog Nozzle doesn't have a huge amount of damage but it is great for keeping health up when paired with other items such as the Fastball. It is obtained from "The Beard Makes the Man" side quest from the Tiny Tina Assault on Dragon Keep, but do not finish the quest and turn in the gun.

The Bee shield is a fantastic offensive shield. However, it is only truly effective when your shield is fully charged. Prioritize using it in situations when there is plenty of cover.

Another useful item is the "Antagonist" shield that players can get from the vendor in Flame Rock Refuge. In exchange for 120 Seraph crystals, this shield sends homing slag orbs at enemies every time players are hit and has almost 50% chance to reflect bullets that deal extra damage.

The "Double Penetrating Unkempt Harold" pistol with a matching grip is one of the highest damage outputting guns in the game that is sure to last through most of the playthrough. The weapon is exceptional in helping players recover out of "fight for your life" fainting, and puts up a fight against most badass enemies.

Hopefully, this shortlist will help new players out when searching for items to help them. The game has a large selection of guns to choose from, but this list will objectively help players out in most situations. Borderlands 2 has flaws, but the game is an exciting experience that gamers don't see often.

Borderlands 2 is out now for PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
