The twins never knew their real parents, but one fateful day, Rin is forced to grapple with the truth of his origins when Fujimoto is possessed, and Rin learns that his father is none other than Satan himself.

After Fujimoto's passing, Rin vows to one day defeat Satan, but in order to do that, he has to become a competent exorcist and put to work the abilities granted to him through his infernal heritage. Armed with a sword that releases his demonic power when unsheathed, Rin enters the True Cross Academy, an institution that trains its students to become exorcists that fight against the demons that come to Assiah – the Human World, from the Hellish dimension known as Gehenna.
