Blue Beetle has a pretty simple plot to follow. Upon returning home to his family, Jaime Reyes finds out that they are going to lose their family home. They already lost the family business as well. Even though he has a college degree, it doesn't amount to anything yet.

Through an odd job that he got through his sister, Jaime meets Jenny Kord, a successor to Kord Industries. She eventually gives him the titular Blue Beetle, which possesses Jaimie, and a full-blooded DC superhero movie begins. That's the basic gist, so let's get to a few fun and profound quotes now.

WARNING! There will be spoilers, so get ready comic fans!

8 “We Know It’s A Boy, There’s Probably A Bug In It.”

Uncle Rudy in Blue Beetle

After a quick scene involving Victoria, Lt. Carapax, and Dr. Sanchez discovering the Blue Beetle, things flash over to the airport. Jaime is just returning from college and is met with open arms from his family.

His sister, Milagro, gives him a balloon that reads “It’s a boy” because they were all out of congratulatory balloons. When he tries to bring it into his Uncle Rudy’s truck, he tossed it out and says this line. Uncle Rudy is extremely paranoid and approves of anti-government conspiracies.

7 “Jaime, Jaime, Jaime!”

One of the best things about the movie is Jaime’s family. They’re energized and full of love and support for Jaime. One of the sweetest and funniest examples is when they drop him off at Kord Industries.

They start chanting his name which naturally embarrasses him. They start chanting again when Jaime brings the burger box home only this time they start yelling "Open it!" This turned out to be a bad idea as a scene straight out of The Exorcist starts to play out once the Blue Beetle starts to burrow into Jaime’s back.

6 “It Went Up His Ass!”

Uncle Rudy screaming in Blue Beetle

That aforementioned transformation bit reminiscent of The Exorcist has some choice lines in there as well. Probably the best is when Uncle Rudy screams that the remix went up his nephew’s butt. It’s a strange alien device and aliens are known for probing people in popular media.

Uncle Rudy’s screams were also just fun in this scene. George Lopez is a highlight of Blue Beetle for sure. Who knew he could scream that ridiculously high for such a prolonged amount of time?

5 “This House Is Full Of Stuff, But Your House Is Full Of Love.”

Jenny in Blue Beetle

Not all of the best lines in the movie are funny. There are some profound lines as well like this one from Jenny. Jaime is admiring her old family house and comments how it must have been nice to live in a wealthy place.

It’s kind of like that scene in Aladdin when Aladdin is talking to Jasmine about living in the palace. Money doesn’t buy happiness is basically what Jenny was trying to get at here. She is jealous of Jaime’s family because of how loving they are. She ultimately misses her dad, Ted, who disappeared many years ago.

4 “We Don’t Have Time For Self-Pity.”

Reyes family huddle in Blue Beetle

Nana Reyes, despite her not having superpowers, is one of the strongest characters in the movie. After her house is terrorized and her son died, she was still able to pull herself and the family together.

They needed to focus on saving Jaime and that’s when she gives this speech. She has a great follow-up line after this too, once they rescue Jaime, about being okay to cry. It just goes to show that age has no restrictions on being a badass.

3 “Down With The Imperialistas!”

Nana Reyes has a lot more than sweet words in her arsenal. She used to be a revolutionary which is a surprise to most of her family. She demonstrates her bloodlust while trying to break Jaime out of Victoria’s prison.

She straight up murders them with a Gatling gun, laughs, and says this line. Is Nana Reyes pretending to be a big boss like Vulcan Raven from Metal Gear Solid or something? That Gatling gun is a good start for her cosplay if that is the case.

2 “Sacrifices Must Be Made For The Greater Good.”

Lt. Carapax in Blue Beetle

One of the biggest reoccurring lines is from Victoria who likes to express doing things for the greater good. That’s a good sentiment normally, but it’s easy to decipher her real message. It’s more like she wants what’s best for her and Kord Industries.

Lt. Carapax shoves this line back in her face at the end of Blue Beetle right before detonating himself. Even though he was a typical DC villain, Lt. Carapax did at least come through as a savior in the end.

1 “How Do You Like It Cupcake?”

Jenny Kord in Blue Beetle

Uncle Rudy is a bit rude to new people which might be a play on his name. He’s very against Jenny at first since she is a Kord Industry employee under Victoria as well as a member of the actual Kord family.

He says condescending things toward her like cupcake, which she uses against him in the movie’s final scene. After buying him a new Tacoma truck, she calls him a cupcake. It’s great that she gets the last laugh and by this point, Uncle Rudy can take a joke.
