Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night was met with favorable reviews when it launched last year, and the game has steadily grown since then with a string of updates. That new content is slated to continue on for at least a little while more, because developer ArtPlay has announced that it's adding Bloodless to the Gothic Metroidvania's roster of playable characters later this month.

The parasol-wielding vampire has technically been playable for a while, since she’s one of the boss characters that players can control in Bloodstained’s recently-added Boss Revenge mode. Now, though, ArtPlay has confirmed that she will soon be playable in the main game alongside other characters like Miriam and Zangetsu.

So far, the developer has only shown two short clips of Bloodless in action on Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night’s Twitter page, one which shows her using her parasol to glide and one that shows her unleashing one of her blood-manipulation attacks. This suggests that she’ll be keeping her moveset from the Boss Revenge mode, though it’s unknown if she’ll be getting any extra abilities as well. ArtPlay has said that it will have more news to share in the coming days, so fans should be getting an answer to that question soon enough.

While it remains to be seen if the other playable bosses will be added to the main game down the line, fans do have something else to look forward to in the near future. Last week, it was confirmed that a mobile port of Bloodstained is coming soon, meaning fans will be able to take the game on the go if they don’t happen to own a Nintendo Switch.

Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night is available for PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One, with a mobile version currently in development.
