There are several reasons that Bloodborne remains popular years after release, with enemy design and trick weapons ranking near the top of the list. However, the role of Yharnam itself is just as important, as most fans can appreciate how much different the Bloodborne world is from the usual FromSoftware locales.

A gothic horror game through and through, Bloodborne rarely strays from its black architecture and yellow-ish skies. As such, while some may prefer the more traditional beauty of Dark Souls’ Anor Londo, plenty have taken to the Bloodborne style. Among those that have an appreciation for Bloodborne’s visuals are some skilled artists, with one fan going on to share a painting of Hunter’s Dream. Now, another user has added to the collection of fan art, this time painting a version of Yharnam itself.

Created by Reddit user artofchinara, the piece depicts the moon in the background. Given the important of the light source to the story, as it holds the Moon Presence on its rocky surface, including it was a great touch. Birds can be seen flying around the moon itself, while the yellow sky from the game is well-represented. On the right side of the image, some of the gothic buildings can be seen, with a cross found on the top of a pointed roof. With another building seen on the far-right edge of the image, the artist does a great job of making it feel like this is just a small piece of the city.

On top of a Yharnam rooftop, the playable Hunter and the Doll can be seen together. While the Doll is trapped in the Hunter’s Dream throughout the events of the story, artofchinara explains how they wish she could leave the hub area. As such, they have given her the opportunity through this art piece, with the entity taking in the view alongside the hunter. Imagined as having a conversation with the beast killer, this art piece gives an otherwise bleak story a heartfelt spin.

Outside of an emotional moment between the hunter and Doll, the piece includes a great touch for those searching for detail. While the world of Yharnam and the two characters on the roof are the focus of the art piece, players that look to the window below the pair will see some familiar faces. The Messengers can be seen hanging out the window, with each taking a different pose. The creatures also emit a blue glow, allowing them to clash with the other colors in a perfect way. Standing out, but not too much, the Messengers are a great reminder of the grotesque world below the roof.

Unsurprisingly, the art piece received plenty of upvotes, awards, and positive comments. Hopefully, a Bloodborne successor comes soon, as it would be great to see more paintings like this from artofchinara.

Bloodborne is available now on PS4.
