  • Speculation has focused on FromSoftware's collaboration with Bluepoint Games as a potential avenue for the remake.
  • With the success of titles like Elden Ring and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, the demand for a Bloodborne remake remains high.
  • Bluepoint Games' track record of remastering and remaking classic PlayStation titles makes them a strong candidate for a Bloodborne remake.

Arguably one of the games fans want remade or remastered most is FromSoftware's hit PS4 exclusive Bloodborne with rumors of a modern release of the game cropping up frequently. Although many players argue that Bloodborne isn't in need of a remake and that the original 2015 release still holds up today, others can't help but pine for a graphically overhauled release of the game for the modern era. While nothing concrete has been confirmed, FromSoftware's past collaboration with Bluepoint Games could be the foundation for the Bloodborne remake fans have been clamoring for since the start of the console generation.

The Soulslike genre has exponentially grown over the past few years with new entries in the genre ranging from indie to AAA titles coming out every year, and major titles like Elden Ring and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice winning Game of the Year in their respective release years. Even with all the Soulslikes available, many fans still point to Bloodborne as one of the best games in the genre despite being over eight years old. Although FromSoftware is likely still working on Elden Ring's Shadow of the Erdtree DLC, a Bloodborne remake from Bluepoint Games is not necessarily out of the question.

Now is the Perfect Time for a Bloodborne Remake from Bluepoint

Bluepoint Games has made a name for themselves remastering and remaking classic titles from throughout the PlayStation family's library of games. Notable remasters and collections like Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection, the Shadow of the Colossus remake, and Gravity Rush Remastered for the PS4 as well as the God of War Collection and the Ico and Shadow of the Colossus HD Collection for the PS3 encompass some of Bluepoint's best titles. As a PS4 exclusive itself, Bloodborne seems like a strong candidate to receive a similar remake from Bluepoint in line with their previous works.

The biggest reason Bluepoint is deserving of remaking Bloodborne is due to their fantastic work remaking another FromSoftware classic, Demon's Souls, which served as a launch title for the PS5. The way Bluepoint was able to take this PS3 title and make it feel like a true current-gen experience complete with overhauled visuals, gameplay mechanics, and even compatibility with the DualSense's haptic feedback showed that the developer can expertly craft a new yet familiar experience from an existing title. To this day, Bluepoint's Demon's Souls remake still feels like one of the most stunning experiences available on the PS5.

It has now been three years since the Demon's Souls remake released, which follows the approximate timeline in between Bluepoint's releases. As such, it's likely the studio is close to finishing whatever project they are currently working on, and given the current state of the Soulslike genre, a Bloodborne remake would be the most exciting possibility. After a big year for Soulslikes with games like Remnant 2, Lies of P, and the upcoming Lords of the Fallen releasing, a heavily requested remake like Bloodborne getting announced would be the icing on the cake for many fans, and it being developed by Bluepoint would be even sweeter.

However, there is likely one major downside to a Bluepoint-developed Bloodborne remake and that is the likelihood that it would be a PS5 exclusive. Given Bluepoint's status as a member of the PlayStation Studios family along with Bloodborne's original PlayStation exclusivity, it's hard to imagine a remake like this going multi-platform. While it is possible the game could come to PC like many of PlayStation's other console exclusives, the fact that none of Bluepoint's other major games ever came to PC does not bode well for a Bloodborne remake making its way to the platform, despite how much of a hunter's dream it would be.

Bloodborne is available for PS4.
