Originally releasing in 2015 for the PlayStation 4, Bloodborne came at the perfect time for FromSoftware. While Demon's Souls had its fans, 2011's Dark Souls was the first game in the series to really turn heads. By the time Dark Souls 2 released in 2014, FromSoftware's unique brand of brutally challenging but rewarding gameplay had become pretty popular. With Bloodborne's release just a year later, FromSoftware was cemented as one of the greatest developers of the current gaming age.

Swapping out FromSoftware's usual medieval fantasy setting for a gothic, Lovecraftian one, Bloodborne took the best parts of the Souls series to that point, and gave them an extensive makeover, adding its own unique set of features and mechanics along the way. For many fans, Bloodborne is still their favorite FromSoftware game, with incredible visual and audio presentation, some of the developer's best bosses, and a more ruthless combat system. But despite its continued success and popularity, Bloodborne is still stuck on PlayStation consoles, even regardless of the many fans pleading for a PC port.

Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart Might Have Just Paved the Way for Bloodborne on PC

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart

For the last few years, rumors that Bloodborne is getting a PC port have circulated the industry on a frequent basis. It seems as though every few months or so, a new leak has sprouted, once again supposedly confirming that Bloodborne will be headed to PC soon, remastered for 60 FPS, but nothing has come of these countless rumors so far. In fact, the most recent Bloodborne PC rumor even suggests that the port was in the works before 2020, but it was canceled following the rough reception of Horizon Zero Dawn's PC release.

Regardless of the rumors surrounding Bloodborne on PC, Sony is still adding its first-party exclusives to PC bit by bit. The first of these was the aforementioned Horizon Zero Dawn, which after a few patches worked fairly well. In 2022, God of War received a PC port, which quickly became a best-seller on Steam. Uncharted: Legacy of ThievesCollection came out a few months later, and though it failed to make the same splash that God of War did, it was still a great option for PC players. Both of Insomniac's Spider-Man games have also come to PC, both of which have thrived with the help of the talented modding community.

But while all of Sony's previously-released PC ports have had fairly extensive marketing strategies, the publisher's latest port seemingly came out of nowhere. Not even announced at the recent PlayStation Showcase, Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart was confirmed to be coming to be PC in a simple online statement just a few days ago. Set for release in just a month's time, Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart sets a new precedent for Sony releases on PC, hinting that they don't need to have a great deal of fanfare behind them. So all hope for Bloodborne on PC might not be lost after all.

If a game as high-profile as Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart can have a PC port in the works without getting leaked to the public, then it's possible that Bloodborne might have its own PC port in the works. The developers may just be keeping it extremely quiet, using rumors and alleged leaks to mask what's actually going on. What complicates that theory, however, is the infamous Nvidia leaks.

Back in 2021, a huge Nvidia leak surfaced online, detailing a ton of games that were apparently in the works for PC, at least at the time. As time has gone on, more and more games from the list have ended up releasing, with a few Sony PC ports being included. Ratchet and Clank (not necessarily Rift Apart) was on that list too, but Bloodborne never has been. So while Bloodborne could still be in the works, and Rift Apart's PC release has paved the way for a sudden drop, the chances are still slim.

Bloodborne is available on PlayStation 4.
