A Bloodborne fan painted a hauntingly beautiful interpretation of Amygdala, a Great One, as an anniversary present for their boyfriend. Bloodborne's Gothic aesthetic and Lovecraftian influence has been fueling the artistic minds of gamers since its release and shows no sign of stopping even seven years later.

Many Hunters have explored the area nearby Cathedral Ward only to be engulfed by spheres of energy that seemingly manifest out of nowhere. Without sufficient Insight, players remain unable to lay their eyes upon the cause until defeating Rom, the Vacuous Spider, at which point the moon turns blood-red and the Lesser Amygdalas are made permanently visible. Attached to buildings and walls like motionless spiders, the Amygdalas lay in wait for any unassuming denizen of Yharnam to wander in range of their grasp, transporting them to the Hunter's Nightmare or the Lecture Building if in possession of specific items.

A painting of the Amygdala was posted to Reddit by andjus007, the impressive piece was intended as an anniversary gift for their partner. It shows a Hunter, with their weapon drawn, staring up at a now-revealed Lesser Amygdala that rests atop a building and in clear view of the blood moon. The style effectively captures Bloodborne's eerie atmosphere, coating the landscape with overwhelming fog.

Although the Lesser Amygdalas in Yharnam cannot be fought, Patches the Spider can grant a daring Hunter the opportunity to slay a Great One that resides in the Nightmare Frontier. Bearing the Tonsil Stone that he provides, a Lesser Amygdala will grab the player and crush them. Without the Stone, the Hunter would be dropped after being forced to endure an instantaneous onslaught of Frenzy, but its possession means that they are transported to the Lecture Building. From here, players can access the Nightmare Frontier and confront the Amygdala at its end.

Bloodborne's bosses, art direction, and lore are only a few reasons why fans incessantly request Sony to update the beloved exclusive, whether via a next-gen patch, remaster, or sequel. Original developer FromSoftware shows no sign of this coming to fruition however, as the studio seems far too occupied with Elden Ring and the recently announced Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon. But given Elden Ring's popularity and astronomical success, fans of the FromSoftware formula have been served well as of late. Next month will see an hour-long showcase into Armored Core 6, in what promises to be an extensive look at FromSoftware's upcoming title and a significant departure from its recent games.

Bloodborne is available on PS4.
