After returning from its ten-year hiatus, the Bleach anime treated its fans to a much higher-quality adaptation, covering the series’ final arc. The first half featured intense battles with mind-blowing animation, which unfortunately resulted in the defeat of multiple Soul Reapers. However, with the second half now airing, fans of the popular anime may get to see their favorite fighters mount an inspired comeback.
Having to wait an extra year for the second half may have bothered a few initially, but the eye-catching animation and overall production are sure to dispel the discontent. The battle only gets tougher from here, however, as more Quincys will be introduced and more schrifts will be revealed. Schrifts are the epithets given to sternritters that grant them special abilities, bestowed upon them by the father of the Quincy, Yhwach. Here are the strongest schrifts in the series.
10 The Fear
The Fear is Äs Nödts Schrift, allowing him to induce crippling fear in anyone he hits with his spirit weapon. This schrift causes his victims to experience horrific hallucinations and paralyzes their movements. Like most other schrifts in the series, it was bestowed onto him by Yhwach and reflects his fear of death and hell.
His schrift allowed him to easily overpower Byakuya Kuchiki after stealing his bankai, greatly wounding him in the process. It is enhanced when he enters Tatarforas, his Vollständig, which is his most powerful form. In this form, he is able to induce fear in his targets through eye contact alone, making him a more deadly foe.
9 The Heat
“H” - “The Heat” is a fitting schrift for Bazz-B’s bullish personality. It allows him to manipulate heat and fire, which is controlled mainly through the number of fingers he uses. His attacks range from Burning Finger One to Burning Finger Five, the former which emits a small beam of fire from one finger, while the latter releases a powerful surge of flames from all fingers.
His flames were strong enough to partly offset that of Captain Commander Genryusai Shigekuni Yamamoto, though he still took a lot of damage. He was also able to fatally wound the lieutenant of the third division of the Gotei 13, Izuru Kira, despite exerting minimal effort.
8 The Compulsory
Belonging to Pernida Parnkgjas, the Compulsory is a schrift that grants it the ability to control anything it touches with its extended nerves. In reality, however, this is an ability Pernida has always possessed, as its true nature is that of the Soul King’s left hand. It is able to freely manipulate or destroy anything it comes into contact with using its nerves, and this has an instantaneous effect.
Even if one of its fingers is torn off, Pernida can still remotely extend its nerves toward its target. It can control inanimate objects and large structures as well, making the scope of its ability very troublesome.
7 The Deathdealing
The Deathdealing is a schrift belonging to the eccentric Askin Nakk Le Vaar. It allows him to manipulate the lethal dose of any substance he ingests, making it harmless to himself or fatal to others. This applies to a wide range of things, such as blood, oxygen, or even spirit particles.
He can also apply this schrift in different ways, evidenced by his many abilities. For example, it grants him immunity by raising his lethal dosage or tolerance to an attack. He also has abilities that apply over long distances or a wide area. These include gift ball and gift bad, the former which creates a small ball of altered lethal doses while the latter alters the lethal doses to anything provided his target steps into a certain radius.
6 The Visionary
The Visionary is a schrift with limitless possibilities, allowing its user, Gremmy Thoumeaux, to turn his imagination into reality. With this ability, he is able to create substances out of nothing, alter the structure of existing things, and even create new life entirely. He is also able to clone himself, amplifying the power of his imagination as a result.
This power does have its weaknesses, however, as Tommy cannot imagine things he does not know about or cannot visualize. His imagination can also harm him if he does not exercise enough conscious control. Finally, once he dies, the objects of his imagination will cease to exist.
5 The X-Axis
The X-Axis is the first ever schrift to have been issued by Yhwach, and it belongs to Lille Barro, leader of the Schutzstaffel. It is the ultimate offense that allows him to fire his rifle and pierce through anything as long as he can see it. It does not need projectiles and cannot be blocked in any way.
He generally keeps himself from operating at full power by closing one of his eyes; however, once he does open them both, he becomes much stronger. With both eyes, the X-Axis applies to himself in the form of defense, helping him phase through attacks that come from within his line of sight.
4 The Antithesis
After learning more of the Quincy extermination at the hands of the soul reapers, Uryu seemingly joined forces with Yhwach and the Wandenreich. Shortly after, to the bewilderment of the sternritters, he was announced as Yhwachs successor and given the schrift “A” - “Antithesis.” It is a schrift with the power to reverse anything that has happened between two targets.
It has wide applications and qualifies for any sort of event. For example, he is able to reverse wounds suffered against a superior opponent, transferring those wounds to his enemy while essentially healing himself.
3 The Miracle
This schrift belongs to Gerard Valkyrie and makes him virtually unkillable. As the name suggests, the Miracle is a schrift that allows him to get through challenging situations, especially when they seem impossible to overcome. It allows him to convert any damage received into physical strength while also growing larger in the process.
Like Pernida, this is an ability he has had from the beginning, as he is the heart of the soul king. The Miracle does not only enhance his physical strength and size but also affects specific events. For example, if he can’t find a target and the odds are terribly low, there is a high chance of a miracle occurring that leads to him discovering their location.
2 The Balance
The Balance is a schrift with the unique ability to tip the scales of misfortune between its user and its opponent. It belongs to the sternritter grandmaster Jugram Haschwalth and is second only to Yhwach’s in the series. It gives him the power to disperse misfortune onto others, which can be great enough to eliminate them if he wishes.
He can also turn any good fortune used to harm him back at his opponent, converting it into misfortune and inflicting great harm upon them. Furthermore, he is able to use the Freund Schild, his spirit weapon, to absorb any misfortune that would occur to him.
1 The Almighty
As the Father of the Quincy, Yhwach’s schrift is unsurprisingly the most powerful. The schrift, however, is sometimes shared with his second in command, Jugram Haschwalth, who takes over at night whenever Yhwach is asleep. Its power allows him to see far into the future, taking into account different possibilities and allowing him to act accordingly in each situation.
The true power of the Almighty makes it possible for Yhwach to affect and alter the events of the future. Using this, he can take action against his opponents long before they are aware and circumvent incidents that would result in his death.
