Blasphemous is an action platformer game, often referred to as a Metroidvania style of game, about going through a large labyrinth and fighting horrible monsters in order to free the world of Cvstodia from a terrible curse that suddenly fell across the land. Many players have certainly picked up this game for its gorgeous artwork and fun gameplay.

Due to the nature of Metroidvania-style games being rather difficult at times, many players undoubtedly need some beginner tips. They want to ensure that they are on the right path, so having these helpful tidbits by their side should prove invaluable.

7 Go Through All Doors

Blasphemous - Boss enemy

There are many rooms and paths for a player to trawl through in Blasphemous. Many of these rooms can have enemies or bosses in them, but many others can also show the player interesting secrets, or even pave the way to new and strong items.

There is no downside to taking the plunge through the world of Blasphemous and crawling through every single door and hidden path a player can find. Who knows? A player might even find a rare weapon through one of the doors that they go through; there is no way to know unless they start looking.

6 Learn To Time Sliding

Blasphemous - A Bloody Mess

A player can slide in this game as a way to dodge enemies. Although it can be very useful to a player, timing these slides is equally important; a player could potentially slide out of the grasp of one enemy and walk straight into another.

A player is going to want to learn their timing quickly when it comes to sliding. Learning how to slide is going to be one of the most important things a player is going to do, to ensure that they are able to get away from enemies without hurting themselves in the process.

5 Parrying Is Difficult

Blasphemous - A very Bloody Mask

Just like with sliding in Blasphemous, a player can learn how to parry the attacks of enemies in the game, to ensure that they take absolutely no damage at all. However, it is just as - if not more - difficult than learning how to slide.

Learning how to time a player's parrying abilities is going to be a long and difficult endeavor. A lot of learning how to parry is going by feel, along with trial and error, so a player should eventually be able to figure it out along the way.

4 Watch For Exploding Enemies

Blasphemous - A Stone Enemy

Fighting in Blasphemous is all fun and games until a player encounters an enemy that can explode. Whether the enemy explodes upon death, or simply blows up mid-way through the battle, if a player doesn't take precautions it could take out a huge chunk of their health.

Enemies that explode are no joke to deal with. A player needs to figure out how to stop them without getting hurt - usually, this involves jumping around the exploding enemies, or finding the source of them and destroying it so no more could spawn. Really, anything except directly attacking the enemies works.

3 Biliary Vessels Are Important

Blasphemous - Slashing at enemy

Essentially, biliary vessels are the player's best way to heal after a tough battle. The biliary vessels are used essentially like flasks or how potion bottles would be used in other games.

A player can gather up many biliary vessels and fill them up in a certain room, to ensure that they will have a way to heal. Although players will have to pay a fee to fill up the vessel the first time, it will then automatically refill for free each time the player visits a shrine. There is absolutely no harm in collecting and filling as many biliary vessels as possible.

2 Attack From Below

Blasphemous - Attacking an enemy

It is no secret that there are many enemies a player will have to fight in Blasphemous. The place is teeming with them; thankfully, though, players have figured out a solution to attacking many enemies on the ground with only a small chance of getting hurt.

A player can actually attack enemies from below, as long as they are above the ground floor. All a player has to do is repeatedly jump up and swing upwards, and the enemies will be dealt damage without being able to attack; even if their AI is provoked, a player will fall back to the ground soon afterward.

1 Increase Max Health For Survivability

Blasphemous - A Big Slash down

Increasing the player's max health is done in a similar way to filling up biliary vessels for healing. However, instead of hunting for vessels to fill up for potions, a player will increase their max health by finding a secret room in each level; there will be a large statue with multiple swords in this room.

After the player finds the statue, one of the swords in the statue will be given to the player, and this will increase their max health. A player should remember to explore each room as much as they can, to try and find this statue.

Blasphemous is available on Windows PC, Mac, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PlayStation 4.
