In the 2D indie Metroidvania, Blasphemous 2, players will immediately have to choose from one of three starting weapons to get going on the adventure. It might be hard to decide which weapon to go with, which is where this guide comes into play. We'll let players know the difference between each one and if the choice actually makes a difference.

Blasphemous 2: What's the Best Starting Weapon?

picking a weapon in blasphemous 2

Before we get into the details on each weapon, it's worth noting that players will be able to get all three weapons while playing Blasphemous 2, so there won't be any locked behind this initial choice. So, for example, if players decide to go with the one-handed Ruego Al Alba, they will be able to locate the Veredicto and the Sarmiento & Centella later on. Still, players should pick the weapon that suits their playstyle the best, as they'll have to use it until they eventually unlock the second weapon.

Veredicto Weapon in Blasphemous 2

The weapon on the left is called the Veredicto, and it's basically a super powerful (but slow) mace. It has a long reach and can potentially stun enemies. Players will generate Fervour with each attack, and by holding down Y on the Switch (Square on PlayStation, X on Xbox), players can use a charged-up Thunder of Mercy skill. Also, press the right bumper to activate Embers of Faith, igniting the mace with fire. Players can kneel down and repeatedly press Y, Square, or X to spin the mace around to attack nearby opponents. It's a great weapon for those who prefer the slow and strong route.

The double daggers called Sarmiento & Centella are the fastest weapons in Blasphemous 2, offering quick attacks to eliminate foes efficiently. Players can slide with the right trigger and then hit the Y button on Switch (Square on PS, X on Xbox) to perform a Sacred Thrust. Players will also be able to parry incoming attacks with the right bumper.

And last but not least, we have the single-blade weapon, Ruego Al Alba. Players who aren't sure which weapon to use might want to choose this one, as it's the most balanced of the trio. By eventually getting a Blood Pact, players will be able to heal while wielding the blade. The sword has a really cool downward thrust attack called Weight of Sin that can be performed by pressing down and then (Y on Switch, Square on PS, X on Xbox). The sword is also capable of parrying with the right bumper.

Blasphemous 2 is available now for PC, PS5, Switch, and Xbox Series X/S.
