Highlights

  • Blasphemous 2 introduces two types of Prayers: Chants and Verses. Chants are stronger but slower to cast and cost more Fervour.
  • The Peteneras to the Burial of the Lights Chant damages enemies within a flaming area, making it useful for defeating spawning enemies.
  • The Mirabras of the Return to Port Chant allows players to teleport back to the City of the Blessed Name, making backtracking easier and providing an escape from ill-prepared fights.

Blasphemous 2 improves on its Prayer mechanic by giving players two types to use: the Chants and Verses. Chants are the stronger version of Prayers that have a multitude of uses in battle or when trying to get those sneaky collectibles and hidden areas. These are primarily in the form of more powerful magic attacks to help deal with enemies and bosses. However, Chants are slower to cast and often cost more Fervour.

Blasphemous 2’s Dog is Both Wholesome and Heartbreaking

Blasphemous features an adorable dog NPC in Albero and its return in the sequel is as endearing and nostalgic as it is tragic and solemn.

But which among the Chants are the best ones to run during the Penitent One’s sojourn into defeating The Miracle? These are the most effective Chants players can run in their playthroughs.

5 Peteneras to the Burial of the Lights

The Penitent One executing the Peteneras to the Burial fo the Lights Chant

The Peteneras to the Burial of the Lights is the first Chant players will encounter in their playthroughs. When cast, a lengthy portion in front of the Penitent One will be lit with ethereal green flames for a short duration. Enemies who walk over the flames will get damaged as long as they are within the flaming area.

Using this Chant on parts where players are closed off until they defeat a number of spawning enemies is great since players can coax them into walking to the flaming area. One major downside, however, is that it can only hit grounded enemies. For flying enemies, players need to swat them off the air with their respective weapon of choice.

4 Mirabras of the Return to Port

For those who are inching their way to completely explore and acquire the numerous collectibles and secrets in Blasphemous 2, it can get frustrating when backtracking previous locations when tracking those goodies down. Luckily, the Mirabras of the Return to Port is available. Using this gives players the choice to teleport back to the City of the Blessed Name. This comes in handy once players have discovered the Shrines that allow them to fast-travel from place to place.

The Mirabras of the Return to Port can also be used in some non-boss battles: when players stumble into a fight they are ill-prepared for, they can quickly cast this Chant to get teleported back to safety.

3 Debla of the Lights

The Penitent One executing Debla of the Lights Chant

As far as stage-clearing Chants are concerned, the Debla of the Lights is one of the best ones to get. When cast, the Penitent One kneels down, and a huge pillar of light descends and covers a wide area around the Penitent One. As long as the pillar is on the screen, enemies caught in its light are dealt tremendous mystical damage. What makes this Chant so effective is that it can hit bosses after they’ve done executing some of their attacks, as well as it is amazing for clearing those pesky flying enemies and those hard-to-reach opponents in certain areas.

This Chant can be purchased from the Traveling Merchant once the Basilica of Absent Faces can be accessed. One major downside, though, is that casting this costs a lot of Fervour. But in some builds, this can easily be addressed.

2 Chime of the Twisted One

The Penitent One executing the Chime of the Twisted One Chant

The Chime of the Twisted One is one of the strongest Chants in the game. When the Penitent One casts this, a spectral chime pops up and rings, its shockwave hurting all enemies on the screen. This is a potent Chant to use when dealing with multiple enemies.

There are three different weapons to collect in Blasphemous 2 and this guide will show players the locations of each one.

However, the way to get this Chant to its maximum power can be tedious. Players need to search for ten hidden symbols scattered across the map and cast the Chime of the Twisted One to activate them. Once this is done, this Chant can obliterate enemies unfortunate enough to cross the Penitent One.

1 Seguiriya to the Memory of Your Eyes

Of all the Chants in the game, few can boast its power over the Seguiriya to the Memory of Your Eyes. When cast, enemies on the screen are frozen in time for a couple of seconds, leaving them open for the Penitent One to utterly decimate. This Chant is extremely useful during boss battles since players can get a lot of shots in or heal up with Bile Flasks if they're taking a beating themselves.

In terms of acquiring this amazing Chant, players will have to undergo an obscure and lengthy side quest where they need to lift the Curse of the Unforgiven. But once players manage to complete this side quest, they are rewarded handsomely with the best Chant in Blasphemous 2.
