A recent poll from Nielsen insight group reveals Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 is the most anticipated title of the holiday season, coming in ahead of Fallout 4.

Two years after the launch of the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, many gamers consider the upcoming holiday season the first strong current-gen lineup for the new consoles. With such major titles like Fallout 4, Star Wars Battlefront, and Halo 5 in the mix, it’s easy to see why gamers are so excited for the next few months.

For a couple months, most have considered Fallout 4 to be the most highly anticipated title among gamers, due to the success of the previous games in the series, and the gameplay and info Bethesda has released about the game. However, according to the Nielsen insight group, there’s another multi-platform game that captures more excitement from gamers.

No, it’s not Star Wars Battlefront or Assassin’s Creed Syndicate; it’s Call of Duty: Black Ops 3. That’s right, more gamers are excited for Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 than Fallout 4.

This is surprising, first and foremost, because the Call of Duty franchise has been on a downward swing for the past few years. Granted, both Call of Duty: Ghosts and Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare sold very well, but both moved fewer copies than their predecessors. That being said, many Call of Duty players consider the Black Ops series to be the best in the franchise, so it's understandable that the next installment would garner major interest and excitement from gamers.

Most Anticipated Holiday Games

Although it wasn’t the most anticipated, Fallout 4 still performed extremely well in the survey. Along with Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 and Fallout 4, gamers are excited for Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate, Need for Speed, Star Wars: Battlefront, Rise of the Tomb Raider, and Rock Band 4, in that order.

Nielsen also polled gamers about the most anticipated exclusive games coming out this fall. Unsurprisingly, Halo 5 nabbed 100 percent anticipation among Xbox One owners surveyed. Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection eked out a paltry 79 percent among PlayStation 4 owners, which isn't surprising considering it's a re-release.

The most anticipated title on PC is Starcraft II: Legacy of the Void, while Wii U owners are looking forward to Yoshi’s Woolly World. For handhelds, the PS Vita’s top title is Corpse Party: BloodDrive, with Dragonball Z: Extreme Butoden leading on Nintendo 3DS.

We’ll note that only those games that received 70 percent or higher anticipation were included in the above graphic, so bear that in mind. As for their data collecting process, Nielsen revealed the information was gathered by surveying over 4,800 gamers between ages 7 to 54, during August 24 and September 9.
