Dwayne Johnson's Black Adam had a soaring first weekend, with the film having the biggest opening for any standalone movie that Johnson has been the lead in. Initial numbers put the film at a whopping $140 million at the global box office, with $73 million of those earnings coming from international markets. However, the revised numbers have just been released, and it has been confirmed that the international earnings were even higher.

Black Adam was released in theaters last weekend amid much fanfare and a leaked mid-credits scene that promised the return of Henry Cavill's Superman in the DC Extended Universe. Its box office figures for the opening weekend have exceeded expectations, with the film earning $67 million at the domestic box office and the revised international earnings now set at $75.9 million from over 70 international box office markets.

The revised figures can mainly be attributed to the markets in the UK and Indonesia. According to a report published by ComicBook.com, the two markets added additional numbers to the Black Adam box office figures for opening weekend. The total earnings now stand at $142.9 million globally. The earnings are an impressive start for the film focusing on an entirely new antihero joining the DCEU.

After the formation of Warner Bros. Discovery, the company has been in the spotlight for several issues and controversies. Several release dates were shifted, executives left their posts, and the Batgirl film was entirely canceled. Following all the talk and news reports, the Black Adam box office earnings are a positive sign for the studio. Johnson has been promising that Black Adam would change the “hierarchy of power in the DC Universe,” and perhaps he will be called upon by the studio for advice in the future.

Apart from the massive box office earnings, Black Adam has been receiving a lot of positive reviews from fans. Black Adam currently has a 90% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, a fact that Johnson celebrated on Twitter. He thanked his fans for the “love and support” and confessed that the most important thing for him is to send “people home happy.” Many fans thanked Johnson on social media for bringing Cavill back as Superman in the mid-credits scene, something they had been asking Warner Bros. to do for the past five years.
