BioWare is a developer known for creating some truly memorable games and franchises. While not everything the studio makes falls into the category of being a Mass Effect or Dragon Age game, many fans are primarily familiar with the titles coming out of those franchises. These RPG series are beloved by their fans for taking them on rich fantasy or sci-fi adventures. However, something that would prevent some fans from buying DLC for these games was the fact that they were only purchasable on PC by using BioWare Points.

While this did change recently with games like Mass Effect 3 and Dragon Age 2 getting DLC bundles that could be bought with normal money, BioWare Points would plague a gamer's wallet by forcing them to spend more than they needed, due to only being able to buy 800 points at a time and DLC often costing somewhere in the awkward region of 1400 or more. EA has recently revealed, though, that it is getting rid of BioWare Points, which means that some older BioWare titles will have DLC available to fans for free.

To get free DLC for Dragon Age Origins, Dragon Age 2, Mass Effect 2, and Mass Effect 3, players must first already have these titles in their Origin library. Then, to get the free DLC, fans must navigate to the "Extra Content" tab on the game's page, where they should find individual DLC that can be downloaded at no cost. The DLC bundles for games like Mass Effect 3 and Dragon Age 2 are still available to be purchased for real money, so players should ensure they download the content they want piece by piece. With the Dragon Age series being praised for having some of the best DLC in gaming, fans who have so far not experienced the extra content for these games will likely want to pick it up.

Mass Effect 2 and 3 are also known for having some seriously entertaining pieces of DLC content. Mass Effect 3's Citadel DLC, for example, takes away the gritty, serious tones of the main story and gives players a chance to hang out and have fun with their companions one last time.

While the official end of BioWare Points will happen in October 2022, the DLC for the games listed above can be claimed for free starting now. Players will still have access to any content previously purchased through BioWare Points as well, something that many will be glad to hear following Ubisoft's decision to remove online services from many of its older titles.
