Big Mouth is an animated adult comedy show on Netflix that explores the lives of a handful of prepubescent kids who are blindsided when their bodies begin to go through that special change. Plagued with new emotions and physical attributes they didn't ask for, the cast becomes a ball of animated chaos, rage, and angst as they try to keep themselves under control with the help of their trusty hormone monsters.

Big Mouth has been an outstanding success, with fans craving more. Having just released its sixth season, Big Mouth continues to push the envelope in rambunctious, explicit wackiness and has a strong resemblance to Adult Swim classics such as Home Movies. Big Mouth is a series that delivers something new with every episode and keeps fans engaged with its unpredictable scenarios and outlandish musical numbers. Each season shines in its own way, but some more than others.

6 Season 5

Season 5 of Big Mouth is a hardy addition to the series and covers a wide birth of screwball antics that become wilder with every episode. The resident wild boy Jay tries to get over his failed attempt at love with Lola by abstaining from deviant behavior, while Andrew finds new interest in a young girl from Virginia.

Out of the bunch, Nick has it the toughest, as per usual, when he is down three hormone monsters as Connie also bids him farewell. Frustrated, Nick infiltrates the world where hormone monsters come from and seeks to speak with the person in charge of screwing up his life. Unfortunately, Nick finds himself in the land of monsters, where the spin-off Human Resources takes place, and must find his way out or be trapped forever.

Things take a turn for the worse for the entire cast as emotional trauma and toxic conflicts envelope the entire season. Both children and parents fight to hold on to what little sanity they have left but are met with setback after setback no matter how hard they try to do the right thing.

Jessie has to deal with the approaching birth of her step-sister and the jealousy that comes with it. Meanwhile, Jay and Matthew’s relationship begins to crumble when Jay starts to change for the boy he loves. To make matters even worse, Nick and Andrew’s families begin to splinter due to their poor decisions, and neither one can figure out a way to mend the bridges they’ve set ablaze.

4 Season 2

Season 2 of Big Mouth shifts the series into full gear as a myriad of curveballs causes the lives of Nick and Jessie to become extremely complicated. Nick develops feelings of inadequacy while Jessie struggles with her body's changes which cause her to develop negative personality traits as well.

The show reveals the hormone monstress for the first time as Connie hits the scene to kick butt and take names. Nick becomes enveloped in depravity that rivals that of Jay Bilzerian when he and Missy’s romance comes to an end. Season 2 does a wonderful job of exploring the characters at their core and making them truly relatable with their day-to-day issues.

3 Season 4

Season 4 starts off as a cluster of chaos when Nick and Andrew, fresh off of a significant best friend fight, end up at summer camp together. Andrew has it out for Nick after he kissed Missy and lied about it and has devoted his time at camp to make his life miserable.

Nick struggles with anxiety and loses the little confidence he has left when Andrew hijacks his position as best boy within the camp. Meanwhile, Jessie, whose also at camp, finally finds a friend in a new character, Natalie, who has recently come out as trans. Season 4 also gives a peek at the future, Stranger Things-style, of the main cast in their adult lives and shows how bleak their future could become if they continue to walk down a path of poor decisions.

2 Season 3

Two of the best characters on the show, Connie and Maury try their best to guide and shape the young minds of the kids but find they may be out of their league when they choose left instead of right at every fork in the road. Jessie is pushed to the limit when her family splits apart, and her mother's sexual orientation changes.

Nick is faced with putting his foot in his mouth at every avenue and must overcome his selfishness. Andrew is tested as he is led astray by his maturing cousin and becomes looked down on by his family. In addition to this, the show receives a brand-new character, Ali, who shakes up the entire school with her energetic attitude and her identification as pansexual.

Big Mouth Season 1 stands above the rest as the foundation for the success of the show. Season 1 made a memorable impression with its raunchy shenanigans and hilarious hijinks. The main cast is introduced, and viewers get a strong sense of the type of personalities of Nick, Andrew, Jessie, and Missy while at the same time becoming acquainted with the series' themes.

The first step into puberty for the characters is a big one that shakes them to their core, but in every episode, they find their own way of dealing with the changes they go through. Big Mouth makes light of a lot but gets the adolescent experience right on several different fronts.
