Despite its popularity over the course of six seasons, there was never a Better Call Saul video game, but one YouTuber showed what it would look like on the PlayStation 1. The series takes place during the early 2000s, which is right around the time the PS1 was popular and shifting into the PS2 era.

There have been many video games based on television series, from The Sopranos and Battlestar Galactica to even the likes of Desperate Housewives and Corey in the House. That probably won’t be the case for Better Call Saul, unfortunately. Though demand may not be as high for a video game adaptation as a more action-packed television series, fans can now see what Better Call Saul would look like as one. YouTube content creator PotBoiiler took it upon themself to create a scene of Better Call Saul in the form of an original PlayStation game.

Better Call Saul may have ended in August, but the show's fandom will live on forever with tributes aplenty. PotBoiler posted their video for all to enjoy, saying that they used Blender software and created the sneak preview from scratch. At just under a minute long, Better Call Saul fans are treated to Goodman reciting a line taken from the infamous commercial from the television series. After hitting continue, fans are taken into the gameplay where Saul and Mike Ehrmantraut (Jonathan Banks) are in the desert where the latter character is equipped with a sniper rifle.

The gameplay scene is taken from the action from the Better Call Saul critically acclaimed episode “Bagman,” the eighth episode of the fifth season. The player takes on the role of Mike, who must protect Saul while he’s carrying precious cargo. It’s certainly a mission that has been done in video games before where players have to protect an NPC from danger with a long ranged weapon. Players have to reload and take out the SUV with the enemies before Saul is run over and meets his untimely demise.

This video isn’t the first time that PotBoiler has played around with the idea of turning popular television shows into PlayStation 1 games, either. Over the past couple of months, they also worked parodies of The Office and The Boys. Only time will tell if they are able to make a full-fledged game out of Better Call Saul, but after seeing what it could be like, there’s a lot of intrigue.

The general consensus is that television shows don’t quite translate well into video games, but there have been some successes. Games like Mission: Impossible, The Simpsons: Hit and Run, and The Walking Dead come to mind. Then again, there are some games like American Idol and Alf that leave some people feeling cautious about playing a TV-based video game.
