Bethesda Game Studios' Todd Howard says the studio that created Fallout 4 and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim are working on three different projects, all 'big and crazy.'

Bethesda Game Studios is known for its hugely dense and expansive game franchises, Fallout and The Elder Scrolls. Bethesda Game Studios' games have become landmark releases for many gamers, providing hundreds of hours of gameplay and no shortage of hidden secrets to find. So it does not come as a surprise that the studio is continuing work on making these types of massive games, but what may be unexpected is that the developer has three projects in the works.

Speaking today at the D.I.C.E. 2016 Summit, executive producer and game director Todd Howard said Bethesda is working on three projects that are different than what they've made before, but still fits their history of "big and crazy" titles:

"We have three longer-term projects we're doing that are all...we'll talk about them at a much future date. But they're different than anything we've done before while also being a Bethesda-style game; big and crazy. But in many ways different than things we've done before."

It sounds as though the projects Howard is referring to are new, and may not include a follow-up entry in the Fallout or Elder Scrolls franchises. This echoes what he said in December, stating that the developer had "lots of ideas" for the future. In fact, during his talk today, Howard was asked if one of those projects rhymes with Fallout 5, to which Howard answered with a laugh.

It's also possible that one or more of those projects could be in development at Bethesda's new studio that was recently established in Montreal. Howard mentioned the studio at the D.I.C.E Summit saying the studio was working on projects for mobile "and other things."

With three longer-term projects in the pipeline for Bethesda Game Studios, it's starting to become clearer why Bethesda—the publisher—will be holding its own press conference at E3 this year, for the second year in a row. Dishonored 2 (developed by Arkane Studios) and more from Fallout 4 is expected this year, but fans will no doubt hold out hope that one of Bethesda Game Studios' projects could make an appearance as well.

As for what's in store in the immediate future for fans of Bethesda Game Studios, three DLC packs were just announced this week for Fallout 4, which will add robot building, creature taming, better weapons, and a new landmass to explore. Besides the new DLC coming soon, it also appears that Fallout 4 is still holding onto some of its mysteries. Today, Howard teased that he knows of at least one secret that still has yet to be discovered by fans.

What do you think Bethesda Game Studios is working on? Do you think we'll see any of them teased at E3 this year?
