The world of video games is free from all the social pressures of the modern world. A mode of escapism out of the many constraints that divide and break humanity into fragments of intangible factions that are seldom unnecessary. If one could say it out with pride, the gaming fanbase is probably the only place where things align together to form a paradise even for all.
Female representation in video games has come a long way, a touch in advance compared to some other modes of entertainment. Gone are the days of NPC female characters being used to woo the players into buying the games. As a new era becomes where women can freely express themselves in an inclusive world of diversity, so does the variety of such female characters that bring in the sense of the context. Some are customizable, while others are downright iconic, but in the end, it all comes to a good round of memorable entertainment.
6 Lightning - Final Fantasy
Lightning made her debut in 2009 with the titular installment of the lightning saga - Final Fantasy 13. Although the game is not a direct sequel to any of the main games, the subseries saw her story woven into a solid central character.
An orphan at an early age, Claire Farron took on the name and role of Lightning, promising herself to be stronger and take the challenge against all evil. Her calm and apathetic demeanor made her the perfect fit for the Guardian Corps and quickly saw her rise to higher ranks. As a result, she is considered the second most important female character in the entire Final Fantasy series.
5 Sara Valenstein - Legend of heroes
Sara Valenstein made her presence felt high and well in the first three games of the Trials of Cold Steel Tetralogy. She carries her nickname "purple Lightning" from her stint with the Northern Jaegers corps and has a kick for high octane action and got slushed in Alcohol.
The yellow-eyed 26-year-old carries herself with the utmost poise (when sober) and is seen with her pink hair tied up in a high ponytail. The yellow cocktail dress of the crops and brown thigh-high boots underneath complete her fashion statement.
4 Zarya - Overwatch
Moving on to a more recent Pink head, this character from the most beloved game "Overwatch" is quite different from the other ladies on the list. Zarya (short for Aleksandra Zaryanova), aka Sasha, hails from the far side of the Russian borders. She lifts, can throw around people like popsicles, and is someone not to be messed with.
A former cadet of the Russian defense forces, Zarya took to a private channel to make her skills more provided where they were deserved. The giant muscular sports a pink undercut is clad in heavy armor and carries a heavy particle cannon for her weaponry!
3 Poison - Final Fight/Street Fighter
Poison debuted in Capcom's 1989 beat-em-up game Final Fight and later moved on to the Street Fighter series. However, her alliance with the evildoers or the enemy faction often made the players have indifferent takes on her. Clearly, she did not start as a fan favorite.
However, later down the series, the swashbuckling whiplashing lady from the USA turned a new leaf and has remained a neutral character in the franchise's larger scheme of things. Nevertheless, she has remained a mainstay in the games irrespective of her character has very little to do with the narrative. Her love for pink does not end with her hair as it extends down to her crop coat and hot pants. Some of her style statements draw similarities with antagonist Vega!
2 Hanoka - Dead or Alive
The Dead or Alive franchise will go down in history as the make-or-break games that ended up on the winning side. A studio down to mere bankruptcy stood tall with the release of the series and eventually made itself a brand. The game is well known for its treatment of female characters, a few of those who became fan favs. One such heartthrob is Honoka!
Honoka made her debut in the 5th installment(DOA5) of the series and rose to prominence with the DOA6. Hailing from Japan with the culture's schoolgirl attire, Honoka strikes a delicate balance between a humble, repentant heart and a fierce mind with brutal jabs.
1 Alisa Bosconovitch - Tekken
Alisa Bosconovitch made her debut with Tekken 6 in 2007. Although the game's prologue has a specific narrative about her being an android, the character still has human tendencies and carries considerable reason to be on the list.
As per her prologue, the pink-haired robot was created in a secret research laboratory in Russia by one genius - Dr. Bosconovitch. The link between the two does not end with their last name but extends to show some clear motive. After the death of his daughter, Dr. Bosconovitch created the android to imitate his beloved. Sadly, she ends up in a 'beat 'em up' tournament instead.
