Finding the best team in Mario Strikers: Battle League can be a little tricky, as too can deciding on each player's optimal gear. This is because what's best for one player might not necessarily be best for another, with certain team compositions being much better suited to different styles of play and skill levels, not to mention, different opposition.

Mario Strikers: Battle League players hoping to figure out the best build for themselves will likely need to play around a little to figure out which attributes are most important to the way that they play. The following guide will provide a few different jumping-off points, however, which should hopefully make it much easier for players to find a team that really works for them.

The Best Speedy Team in Mario Strikers: Battle League

Items and Hyper Orbs can completely turn the tide of a match, particularly the latter. With this in mind, having a team full of speedy players makes it much easier to get to these desirable pickups first. It is worth noting that the game's pity system makes it harder for teams who are way out in front to get their hands on items, but, for anyone who often finds themselves in close-run matches, a speedy team might be just the ticket.

When it comes to the fastest players in Mario Strikers: Battle League, they don't come much better than Toad and Peach, both of whom are pretty well-suited to the midfield position. The next fastest player is Waluigi, though players will need to boost his shooting stat quite a bit if they want to use him as a forward. To round off the team, players can equip Donkey Kong with a full set of Turbo gear in order to turn him into a top-tier defender.

The Best Bulky Team in Mario Strikers: Battle League

Just as it can in life, being bulky can be incredibly advantageous in Mario Strikers: Battle League. This is because the computer AI usually attempts to run the ball past players, meaning that they'll almost always get a chance to put in a tackle before the opposition is able to get goal-side of them. Bulk can also be useful in forward positions too, as it can make it much easier to steal the ball from the opposition when employing a high press.

Wario and Bowser are the two strongest characters in Mario Strikers: Battle League and should be played together in midfield. Strictly speaking, Bowser is better suited to a more advanced position, but, due to the excellent stat distribution of Rosalina, it's better to play him out of position to get the very best out of the galactic princess. At the back, Donkey Kong once again gets the nod thanks to his fantastic strength and passing stats, both of which are just one away from being the joint highest in the game.

The Best Balanced Team in Mario Strikers: Battle League

In all likelihood, most players are probably going to want to find a team composition that mixes both pace and strength throughout its spine. The most advanced player will need plenty of the latter for pressing the opposition, as well as high shooting and technique stats to tuck the ball away. The defender should be bulky too, though will also need to be a decent passer of the ball to avoid giving it away unnecessarily. Finally, for the midfield, players should look for pacy players with high passing stats so that they can be the first to collect items and Hyper Orbs and feed the ball forward to the attacker with accuracy.

As with the previous two teams, Donkey Kong is arguably the best option for defense and may even be in with a shout for the title of Mario Strikers: Battle League's best player. In midfield, Peach and Toad have all of the necessary attributes, though players may want to drop one of them in favor of Mario due to the Italian plumber's well-balanced stats and the Frank Lampard-esque goal threat that he poses. Rosalina is the pick of the bunch when it comes to strikers, though, in truth, there's not all that much to choose from between her and Bowser.

Mario Strikers: Battle League is available now for the Nintendo Switch.
