Netflix not only offers original content but also allows streaming movies from other production companies. Considering how popular superhero movies are, Netflix doesn't shy from this genre and an important part of its collection are various superhero movies either from established universes or they function as standalone movies or as a part of a different series.

Whatever the case, fans of superheroes and action have a lot of movies to choose from on Netflix. That might sometimes make it difficult to decide what to watch next, but the good news is that some superhero movies available on Netflix stand out from the rest!

6 Code 8 (2019)

Code 8

Code 8 might not have had such a high budget as other superhero movies, but that doesn't make it any less impressive. The movie creates a dark, gritty world where powered people are persecuted and have to hide their powers or turn to life of crime if they want to do better.

Robbie Amell, known for playing another superhero, Firestorm in the Arrowverse, stars as Connor, a young man who joins forces with the criminal Garrett, portrayed by Robbie Amell's cousin Stephen Amell, who played Green Arrow in the Arrowverse. The movie offers a lot of tension as well as intriguing characters, and considering its overall quality, it doesn't come as a surprise that it's supposed to get a sequel.

5 Constantine (2005)

Reeves as John Constantine in hell

Constantine is an unusual superhero movie since John Constantine isn't an everyday superhero either. John has done many bad things and is convinced he's going straight to Hell after he dies. He also happens to be dying which doesn't make things easier for him.

Even so, John decides to help his client whose sister had presumably committed suicide. Constantine mixes together action, drama and horror into a coherent whole that will keep the audience guessing what happens next. And even though Keanu Reeves doesn't look like the comic book Constantine, his performance and the other actors' (such as Rachel Weisz or Tilda Swinton) makes the movie a must-watch for all fans of this genre.

4 IBoy (2017)

iBoy 2017

Most famous superhero movies are American, but that doesn't mean other countries don't make superhero movies as well. This British piece confirms it. It focuses on a young boy Tom who discovers he has special powers after an accident. Other than using his powers for the good, Tom decides to get back at the people who hurt him and the girl he likes.

The movie comes across as surprisingly intimate and down-to-Earth, considering the fact that it deals with the topic of special powers that's usually associated with blockbuster movies. It shows how a traumatic experience can influence people, and both Tim Millner and Maisie Williams help sell the story thanks to their civil performances.

3 Spider-Man (2002)

Spider-Man 2002 confrontation on roof with Green Goblin

Even though Sam Raimi's first Spider-Man movie wasn't the only superhero movie created around this time period, it's more than possible that without its success, there'd be no MCU or other superhero universes. That's how popular and influential the movie became. The story is notoriously known.

Tobey Maguire stars as Peter Parker, a shy teenager who gets special powers and after the tragic death of his uncle Ben decides to use them to fight crime, only to be forced to take on the father of his best friend Harry - Norman Osborn aka the Green Goblin. The movie seemed to have it all - action, humor, touching scenes, and excellent actors. Tobey Maguire recently reprised his role in Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021) and many fans still believe that he's the best actor who played Spider-Man in a live-action movie.

2 Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017)

Spider-Man Homecoming

Just like the first Spider-Man movie from 2002 was a good origin story for Tobey Maguire's Peter Parker, Spider-Man: Homecoming does the same for Tom Holland's Peter Parker. This time around, the movie doesn't start from the beginning, though, as the audience is already well familiar with Spider-Man's origin story, how he got his powers.

Instead, it witnesses Parker's effort to become an Avenger and the difficulty he has juggling his normal life and his superhero activity, especially once the villainous Vulture appears on the scene. The movie is full of humor, Tom Holland gives a strong performance in the leading role, and the dynamic between Spider-Man and his mentor Iron Man made for some of the most intense moments in the movie. If that wasn't enough, Michael Keaton is excellent as the surprisingly sympathetic villain Adrian Toomes.

1 Venom (2018)

Venom 2018

Venom got a lot of hate from some critics and viewers alike, but the movie has a lot to offer to those who give it a chance. Its strongest aspect is the developing unusual relationship between Eddie and his new roommate Venom, made complicated by the fact that Venom is residing inside Eddie's body, has a weakness for eating people's brains and a bit of love/hate relationship going on with Eddie.

The movie offers many hilarious moments between the two, and even though its action side of things might not always be as memorable as in other superhero movies, Venom keeps a fast pace and doesn't disappoint. Tom Hardy as Eddie gives yet another excellent performance and this movie's version of Venom presents an improvement in comparison to Spider-Man 3 (2007) in which Topher Grace took on the role.
