Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin became a meme as soon as it was revealed in 2021. The trailer had characters saying “Chaos” nonstop. Now that players have played the game, they know that Chaos is said a hundred thousand more times. It is ridiculous, but that is arguably all part of the charm of this Final Fantasy spinoff/reimagining.
Players are digging the cheesy vibe of Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin’s story and characters. Its over-the-top nature isn’t going to resonate with everyone, but that is okay. Fans that truly appreciate it will get a kick out of these memes, though should be warned that there will be one or two spoilers ahead.
8 The King Of Burgers
The King of Cornelia’s outfit looks a lot like the King mascot from Burger King. Both outfits are generic for kings in media, so it is not surprising that they mash-up so well. It would also not be that surprising to see the real Burger King mascot in Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin.
This franchise has had a long history of teaming up with various other companies for cross-promotion deals. Some of the most ridiculous appeared in Final Fantasy 15 with things like Cup of Noodles. The King has been in three video games himself too, so it's not like he doesn't have experience.
7 Toilet Tunes
This meme is referencing King of the Hill. The cartoon series has led to plenty of memes over the years. One of the most classic setups appears in the first episode wherein Bobby gives his father his headphones to listen to his music. That’s when he responds with the toilet sounds remark.
Hank isn’t wrong, because it literally was toilet sounds as Bobby was listening to a comedy album. The idea that Jack gives Princess Sarah something similar in Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin is both ridiculous and hilarious.
6 The Name Game
Square Enix is either constantly trolling fans with its names or the people in its branding department are bad at their jobs. Some of the most ludicrous names come from the Kingdom Hearts franchise like 358/2 Days.
Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin is up there too as far as wild game titles go. It’s hard to tell what the game was about before players beat it. After they do, it should all become clear. It is a prequel to the first game. The meme heightens the silly name by adding a more clear title. This should have been on the final screen of the credits.
5 Bernie Of Paradise
One of the last things players will do in Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin before the credits roll has them take Jack back to the Chaos Shrine. Here, he finds an empty throne which he occupies as his allies join him one by one.
This is when it becomes clear that Jack is setting up the events of the original game. The idea of Jack meeting up with Bernie Sanders instead is funny as it calls back the popular memes from 2021. This trend might be old and tired now, but seeing Bernie return in ridiculous places every once in a while can still produce a chuckle or two.
4 That’s My Poke Ball!
The real scene in Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin has Jed and Jack fighting over one of the black orbs crystals. Jed doesn’t think absorbing the darkness is a good idea anymore while Jack stands steadfast in his resolution. The idea of them fighting over a Poke Ball instead is a good goof in this meme.
Pokemon and Final Fantasy are two of the biggest RPG franchises from Japan. It would be interesting if the two series could one day collaborate on more than just fan memes. There was Pokemon Conquest in 2012, which was a wild crossover, so anything is possible.
3 CHAOS!
Chaos was the word of the day when Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin was revealed in 2021. That word was repeated a lot in the trailer. It was almost like Square Enix knew it was ridiculous and was encouraging fans to make jokes about it
The final game has even more talk of Chaos which somehow seems impossible. Out of all the Chaos-infused memes out there, this is a good setup for Jack getting into Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. There are no plans for any more DLC characters, but that could all change somewhere further down the line.
2 Fatality
One of Jack’s most iconic moves in the game is his finishers. Once monsters enter a weakened state, players can finish them off by turning them into crystals and smashing them into oblivion. The animations for each enemy, even bosses, are unique. They are also quite violent.
If Jack can’t get into Super Smash Bros. Ultimate then maybe he can get into the next Mortal Kombat instead. Out of every character in the Final Fantasy franchise, Jack is a perfect fit for a guest character. His bloody urges and sharp language are proof of that.
1 Weird Inventory
Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin is a looter RPG as much as it is adjacent to Soulslike RPGs. Players thankfully get 500 slots to work with on a mission. This is much better than most inventory spaces in looter RPGs. However, the game still deserves an eye roll when it comes to a specific inventory item: potions.
Players can only have nine with them at any given time. This was presumably done to better balance the game. That makes sense, but not if players think about how Jack is potentially carrying around 500 great axes without a backpack of any kind.
