December 16th saw Marvel Studios finally release one of their most-hyped movies ever after months of rumors, leaks, and references to werewolf and mafia party games. With a grand scale that spans across three generations of Spider-Man franchises, Spider-Man: No Way Home was most definitely worth the hype! With a solid 99% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes even after 20k reviews, many are heralding Spider-Man: No Way Home as the greatest Marvel movie ever.

That being said, a phenomenon as big as this movie couldn’t stay safe from its fair share of leaks and rumors before release. After release, however, it couldn’t possibly have stayed safe from a barrage of Spider-Man online memes. Warning: Spoilers ahead!

8 Trust The Tingle!

Three Spider-Men pointing at each other

By this time, one would have been living under a rock to not know that it wasn’t just the villains from past franchises who were coming back in the third installment of the MCU Spider-Man series.

Towards the third act, as the 'Spider-Men' converge and decide who gets what number, the three ended up recreating this meme to the 't', making it one of the best moments in the movie. Some fans believe it was the scene with the three Peters nerding it out in the lab that was a better recreation of this meme. Fans got what they wanted, either way.

7 Captain Octavius Holt

This moment was revealed to viewers in the trailers already, but it took away nothing from when it played out on the big screen. For the beloved Alfred Molina from 17 years ago to fight against the MCU Spider-Man would have been more than amazing.

But for him to then realize that it was not ‘his’ Peter Parker, was the icing on the cake. This moment perhaps cemented many people’s belief that Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield would, in fact, be reprising their roles in the movie.

6 There’s Gotta Be A Black Spider-Man Somewhere

Let’s face it - the third act of the movie was where everybody’s vocal cords went to die. Not a single five-minute stretch went without the entire theatre erupting in applause or jumping out of their seats as one spectacle was outshined by the next. In the end, however, with Electro finally losing his powers, he did make a confession as Max Dillon - he always thought the man under the Spider-Man mask would be black.

This mere reference to the possibility of Miles Morales in the MCU was more than enough to net another round of cheering from the crowds.

5 ‘Split’ Personality

James McAvoy from Split blaming an alternate personality

The Green Goblin has been shown to be an entirely different personality than Norman Osborn. However, if we were to take into consideration the comic-accurate personality of the Oscorp founder, it is clear that the man has a certain predisposition toward evil and wrongdoing. Plus, how can one trust a man who gets superpowers but still chooses to wear a man-purse?

This Split meme perfectly encapsulates the complicated internal struggle of one of the best characters in the movie.

4 Mysterio Did The Only Thing He Could Think Of As He Failed - Doxxing

Doxxing Refrigerator meme

Spider-Man: No Way Home would never have happened had it not been for Kevin Feige Mysterio, who revealed Peter Parker’s secret identity to the entire world in his dying moments. The narcissistic second antagonist in the MCU Spider-Man series, however, did have the last laugh, as he accomplished the one thing that only the saltiest of losers do - doxxing Peter Parker.

That reveal set into motion the events leading to Dr. Strange's botched spell and breaking the multiverse.

3 Speaking Of Crossovers From The 2010s

Peter losing everything at the end of NWH except his apartment and a sewing machine

While we’re talking about crossovers from the past, why not the memes, too? The end of the movie, and of the ‘Home’ saga, saw Peter Parker return to his roots- he was now literally a no-lifer, with nothing but a rickety bed, a small apartment, and a sewing machine to his name. None of that holds our favorite webhead from jumping out the window to have his final heroic swing through New York City.

2 Loopholes That Keep Us Up At Night

He's probably thinking about other women meme

Let’s face it, there’s no other plausible way fans could have gotten all five villains from the past movies within the laws and boundaries of the MCU. The spell that was supposed to make everyone forget 'Peter Parker is Spider-Man' instead ended up opening the multiverse and bringing in the ones who knew the secret from other universes.

However, that still begs the question- When did Jamie Foxx’s Max Dillon, from The Amazing Spider-Man 2, ever know (or care) about who the person under the mask was?

1 Guys, What Do We Do Now?

Pablo Escobar Netflix lonely meme

Ah well, that’s a fair one. What to do now that the biggest pipe dream we’ve ever had finally did come into fruition after years of wishing and conspiring? That’s right - go to the theatres again to relive the cheers and adrenaline from seeing Tom Holland’s Spider-Man swinging both Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire on his own webs as they swing across the moon for the hero shot.

Of course, after the fifth or sixth time seeing that, the staff will begin greeting fans by their names. And, there's always Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness to look forward to!
