5 Brutal Muscle - Knuckles The Echidna
Knuckles is the guardian of the Master Emerald, a powerful gemstone that maintains stability on Angel Island, his home. His distinctive red fur, white spiked gloves, and formidable spiked knuckles set him apart, visually, from the many faces throughout Sonic.

Amy, who was also introduced in Sonic CD alongside Metal Sonic, is a pink hedgehog who, rather than having the ability to run like Sonic, uses a large hammer to batter away at her opponents. 3 Crafty Partner - Miles "Tails" Prower
As it is natural to say that Sonic is the most recognizable and memorable character from the franchise using his very own name, it is also natural to say that Tails is right next to the blue hedgehog. The yellow two-tailed fox was the second protagonist to have been introduced to fans worldwide with the release of Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (1992).
Tails, whose full name is Miles Prower (which is a play off of 'miles-per-hour'), has a crafty personality and is known to invent neat gadgets to support Sonic and the rest of the team. Tails is also able to glide and/or fly throughout the games, which Sonic can use to his advantage as Tails glides him over obstacles.
2 Dark Rival - Shadow The Hedgehog
It was only a matter of time before Sonic was granted a rival that was essentially the same being as himself, yet with a darker twist. The same sort of plot device has been used in many franchises, such as Dragon Ball, which Sonic references many times. Shadow the Hedgehog is Sonic's ultimate rival; a black and red hedgehog with a sinister outlook on the world, yet knows right from wrong in the most crucial moments.
Shadow has been a fan-favorite character since his debut in Sonic Adventure 2, one of the most critically acclaimed Sonic video games. With a past shrouded in mystery and a demeanor that balances aloofness and determination, Shadow captures the essence of a tortured hero grappling with identity and purpose, and even stars in his own video game as the main character (Shadow the Hedgehog 2005).
1 Blue Blur - Sonic The Hedgehog
Of course, there is no besting the Blue Blur himself; as a connoisseur of chili hotdogs and an avid user of the phrase, "Gotta go fast," Sonic is the best character within his very own franchise. Though Sonic only appeared as an ornament for his debut in Sega's Rad Mobile (1991), he soon was given his own video game title as the main character in Sonic the Hedgehog.
From the very first title, Sonic the Hedgehog has kept up his name as the fastest character in the franchise and now has become one of the most famous video game mascots of all time alongside Mario.
