Fire Emblem is an incredibly popular turn-based strategy game that goes a step deeper with its RPG like mechanics. In recent editions of the franchise players have been able to pair up certain characters to not only make them into more powerful units but also experience the adorable yet romantic dialogue that they discuss between them.

In past tiles such as Fire Emblem Awakening and Fire Emblem Fates, these romances could be seen not only between the player character but also between other characters that make up the player's team. For this article, the romances that are focused on will only be between the player characters such as Robin or Byleth and the units that they can recruit. This also means that any titles before Fire Emblem Awakening have not been included.

8 Olivia (Fire Emblem Awakening)

As all the women in Fire Emblem Awakening carry the crucial role of unlocking further units for the player it's important to get them matched up with a possible suitor quickly. Olivia has many overpowered options that can turn Inigo into a ferocious Mercenary.

However, these romances focus on the best dialogue and watching Olivia and Robin work together to fulfill Olivia dream is by far one of the cutest things in Awakening. Olivia has wanted to build a theater she could perform in, Robin wishes to pursue this dream with her through the good and the bad till eventually they fall in love.

7 Silas (Fire Emblem Fates)

Silas talking to Corrin in Fire Emblem: Fates

A common trope of many Fire Emblem titles is the dedicated best friend that has known the player character for years and in this case it's Silas, the soldier with the dream of becoming a valiant Knight. Unlike many of the other characters in Fire Emblem Fates, Silas will follow Corrin no matter what decision they make on the side they choose to follow this is the first example of Silas showing his dedication to Corrin.

Through their support dialogue Corrin is worried on why she couldn't ever remember Silas who has dedicated his life to becoming a Knight, so he could see her again. He makes it his goal in these supports to take Corrin to places she always wanted to visit even if she can't remember why. This friendship then blossoms into something more serious for the both of them.

6 Ivy (Fire Emblem Engage)

Ivy is an interesting character in Fire Emblem Engage, she first appears as an enemy of Alear who she attempts to attack in a hope of simply protecting her country from the possible danger it is already in. Eventually she comes to protect Alear and their team before becoming a permanent member of the Soleil also.

From a once cold woman the first support dialogue with Ivy she already admits that she's in love with Alear. This may have reminded some player of Tharja from the past in the Fire Emblem series though this love is actually one of worship as the divine dragon is something Ivy worshiped to rebel. Learning about why Ivy worships Alear is what makes them grow closer until this love finally turns romantically.

5 Dimitri (Fire Emblem: Three Houses)

Dimitri S-Support Art from Fire Emblem: Three Houses

Three Houses was the first tile to step away from the characters having children, but this didn't mean that the romances went away as Byleth was still able to find love while teaching these characters. Dimitri is an interesting choice as the house leader of the Blue Lions players watch Dimitri transform from a boy full of hope to what he believes is a monster covered in scars and filled with nightmares.

Through talking with Byleth players are able to learn about the years they've missed where Dimitri has essentially become a weapon of vengeance but all he feels he does is evil. Through their supports players begin to feel sorry for the eventual king of Faerghus and hope to rule it beside him, as Dimitri admit Byleth is the only person he feels supports him.

4 Felicia (Fire Emblem Fates)

Felicia talking to Corrin in Fire Emblem Fates

Similar to Silas, Felicia is another character that will follow Corrin no matter what route players decide to follow. Felicia is one of Corrin's maids though she is also incredibly clumsy and feels as if she messes up every task she does. Although Felicia is incredible on the battlefield she strives to become a better maid and with every failure Corrin is there to cheer her up again.

As their support progresses a piece of the history between the two is revealed. Corrin had got incredibly sick when he was younger and Felicia took it upon herself using her Ice magic to give the illness to herself which could've killed her. In their S support it's revealed that she has loved Corrin for a long time and that's why she took the sickness into herself in a hope that he would live.

3 Alfred (Fire Emblem Engage)

Alfred S-support in Fire Emblem Engage

The best friend trope continues in Fire Emblem Engage as Alfred is another happy, go-lucky character that hopes to love and support Alear throughout the entirety of the game. Although he isn't the first character players meet he considers himself to be a long-time friend of Alear since visiting them during their slumber, Alear agrees with this and their friendship starts.

During their supports it's shown that Alfred wishes to go above and beyond to continue being friends with Alear. The Divine Dragon begins to feel guilty as Alfred brings them a hearty breakfast every morning and never giving them a moment's rest. From feeling unworthy of their friendship to falling in love with Alear, Alfred has been by the player's side the entire game which makes him a brilliant romance choice.

2 Edelgard (Fire Emblem: Three Houses)

Continuing the theme of edgy choices of romance in Fire Emblem: Three Houses, Edelgard is by far one of the best romances in not only that game but the entire franchise. Taking on the route of the Black Eagles opens up the player to learn so much more about this leader that is labeled as a villain for the majority of the other routes.

Sticking by Edelgard's side may not be the right option for many players especially with how the other routes paint her. In the end Edelgard was just another student that Byleth had the chance to teach and staying with her reveals that she carries a lot of responsibility that she hasn't been able to escape.

1 Chrom (Fire Emblem Awakening)

Chrom and Lissa staring at the Avatar on the ground during the prologue of Fire Emblem Awakening

By far one of the greatest romances that the player character has ever been able to take part in is the romance between female Robin and Chrom in Fire Emblem Awakening. This not only makes two of the strongest units in the game due to them both having incredible stats and skills but also benefits the story of the game.

Spoiler warning but Lucina comes back in time to protect her father from the future dangers, one of these dangers is the betrayal of Robin though it wasn't in their control. This can be even more dramatic if Robin is the mother of Lucina and therefore there is another layer of betrayal. Not to mention how easily Robin and Chrom get along in dialogue with some funny moments of Chrom not considering Robin to be the typical lady and therefore not treating her as such.
