Resident Evil 4 Remake: What to Do After Completing the Story

Resident Evil 4 Remake's main campaign has plenty of content, but what should players do after seeing the credits?

14 Merchant Trade Small Key

Small keys are used to gain access to the locked draws scattered around the map, and the goodies that they contain. RE4 players will know the frustration of coming across one of these drawers with no key, only to find the key further on and backtrack quite far only to get some handgun bullets.

Players can circumvent this annoyance by installing the above mod, which allows players to gain unlimited amounts of small keys from the Merchant free of cost. Now, no drawer will remain locked for Leon S. Kennedy.

13 Ada's RE4 Dress

Ada is no doubt one of the more fashionable Resident Evil characters. She's always suited and booted in red and black ensembles, from her red shirt and black pants combo in RE6, to the classic red dress fans know from the original RE4. The remake saw her don a red sweater dress with thigh-high boots. While the outfit impressed some fans, some still wished for her classic red dress, which is among the most iconic in the series.

For fans who miss this classic Ada outfit, the Ada Red Dress mod replaces her new look with the one from the original game. With working physics and the graphical quality of the dress matching the rest of the game, this mod should be on the radar of every Ada fan.

12 Auto Parry

Leon on the lift

Mod Link:https://www.nexusmods.com/residentevil42023/mods/379

Parrying was a new mechanic added to the remake to place more emphasis on melee combat. With a perfectly-timed button press, players can parry an enemies' melee attack, saving themselves the pain of being skewered by a pitchfork, axe, or even a chainsaw.

But, getting that timing right can be tough. Players have a split second to react, and it is easy to miss the window. This is where the Auto Parry mod comes in. Instead of having to manually press the button prompt as shown on screen, Leon will automatically parry the attack so long as there is a functioning knife in the playe'rs inventory.

11 Infinite Knife Durability

Mod Link:https://www.nexusmods.com/residentevil42023/mods/438

To benefit from the above mod, players need an unbroken knife in their inventory. In the RE4 remake, knives seem particularly fragile, prone to breaking after only a few uses. Though players can find new knives by scouring the world and can visit the merchant to repair and upgrade them, it can still be annoying when that last knife in the inventory snaps mid-combat.

The Pros and Cons of Resident Evil Losing Its New Parry

Resident Evil 4 Remake introduced a new parry mechanic to the franchise, and there are both upsides and downsides to keeping it in the series.

This seems to be a shared consensus among players, as the Infinite Knife Durability mod has been crafted to circumvent this issue. Now players won't have to burn time and resources replacing and fixing their knives, and can get back to what really matters.

10 Relentless Enemies

Mod Link:https://www.nexusmods.com/residentevil42023/mods/666

Mobs in RE4 Remake are rather polite, waiting their turn to hack at Leon, or waiting behind the corner for him to come to them. This gives Leon time to reload and prepare himself for more enemies. This design is likely purposeful on Capcom's part, to spread small clusters of enemies throughout the game rather than throwing a huge mob at the player every five seconds.

But players who wanting more realism and more of a challenge should download the Relentless Enemies mod. This mod doesn't let enemies wait around to attack, and ensures that they all jump Leon at the same time.

9 Classic RE4 Leon

Fans may have been struck by nostalgia seeing`the classic title reinvented for a modern audience, with alterations made to the story, gameplay, graphics and characters, notably the main cast of Leon, Ashley, Ada and Luis. They were given major makeovers in regard to their outfits and physical appearance. While most changes were welcomed, hardcore fans of the original wished for the classic looks.

Leon is known as one of the most wise-cracking characters from across the franchise, but these lines separate themselves from the rest as the best.

For the aforementioned fans, this mod is designed for them. While maintaining the graphic fidelity if the new RE Engine that has given life to truly impressive models, this mod harkens back to Leon's iconic look, replacing his new features with physical looks that are closer to the original. Though it is a minor change, nostalgic fans are sure to enjoy the old Leon in updated graphics.

8 Churchbell No More (Infinite Timer)

Leon facing off against the ganados in the village segment of RE4.

Mod Link:https://www.nexusmods.com/residentevil42023/mods/25

Looks like Bingo night has been canceled. This mod does exactly what it says on the tin, canceling the ringing of the Church bell that causes the ganado's to lay down their arms and attend to the church to worship their Lord Saddler. ThIS fight is often times a challenge that will drain the players' resources especially with the arrival of Dr Salvadore, and the church bells arrive as a welcome reprieve for the play.

This mod offers a new gameplay mode by pitting Leon against the hordes of ganado's with optional additions such as infinite ammunition, infinite durability and disable Dr Salvadore spawn. It is the closest to mercenaries players will get within the base game.

7 Flame Thrower

Resident Evil 4 already boasts an impressive roster of weapons, ranging from magnums to handguns, to rifles and shotguns. Players can even purchase a rocket launcher from the Merchant for when they want to skip an otherwise grueling boss fight. But there is one weapon missing: a flamethrower, of course.

This mod allows players to access this new weapon from the trade section with the merchant, which deals as must damage as the handcannon, offering another very viable weapon for players to use, allowing Leon to tap into his inner pyromaniac and blaze a fiery trail through whatever enemies stand in his way.

6 Weather FX

Mod Link:https://www.nexusmods.com/residentevil42023/mods/

Resident Evil 4 features a dynamic weather system containing a day and night cycle, wind, rain, and overcast skies. While the dynamic weather for the most part is impressive, many players would rather not have to contest with rain limiting the vision as well as the nighttime cycle, not to mention the issues players encountered who are using dated hardware.

This mod places the control in the players hands, allowing them to disable or turn on rain, though so far, it's only available for the demo. The modder has expressed the intent to expand it for the full game, so this mod will be one to watch for.

5 RE4 Visual Overhaul - Your Perfect Reshade

No matter how good new games look, modders will always take it upon themselves to make them look even better. This reshade mod further improves the already impressive graphics of the remake, sharpening textures, increasing the contrast and improving the colors, shading and light effects for an even more beautiful game.

This mod takes things further by placing the customization in the players hands. There are options players can switch on or off, increase or decrease lighting and the intensity of certain options, ensuring the game looks as good as possible.

4 Foggy Environment

Silent Hill fans rejoice! With this mod, fans can give the Resident Evil 4 remake a Silent Hill look but introducing mist to most of the outdoor areas of the game. With three levels of intensity, players can customize just how much fog they want added to their game.

Not all Soulslike on the market can offer the same compelling experience as Dark Souls. Only a few RPGs capture From Soft's rewarding gameplay loop.

Furthermore, the reduced FOV adds a new layer to horror, as the enemies will be obscured from view up to a certain point, meaning the ganado's may descend on the player before they notice they are there, further increasing the fear factor of the game.

3 Realism Mode

Leon grappled by a ganado, struggling to break free.

Mod Link:https://www.nexusmods.com/residentevil42023/mods/103

This mod is not for the faint of heart, changing the game to a brutally challenging difficulty in the name of realism. Leon will now die to a single attack from any enemy in the game. A swipe from their melee weapons, projectile attacks and grapples now see him defeated rather than injured or merely inconvenienced.

While the remake remains challenging enough on hardcore mode, this mod provides a hearty challenge for gamers who found it all too easy, and will certainly test their reflexes and aiming skills.

2 HUNK Mod

HUNK stands in a torch-lit corridor, leaning forward as he look at something ahead.

Mod Link: https://www.nexusmods.com/residentevil42023/mods/232

If players want to experience the story of the RE4 remake with a bold new look, they might want to check out the HUNK mod, which makes no alterations to the story, gameplay or the environment, but instead replaces the model of Leon with that of the iconic character HUNK.

HUNK is one of Umbrella's operatives in the security sector, leader of the alpha team and a cold, calculating individual devoid of nearly all emotion, but always displays his skills as a combatant, and earned himself the title as one of the most popular Resident Evil characters.

1 Moushley Graham - Ratatouille Mod

A miniature mouse version of Ashley sits atop Leon's head.

Mod Link:https://www.nexusmods.com/residentevil42023/mods/366

Anyone who has spent any amount of time on the Internet among Resident Evil fans, would have undoubtedly seen the memes floating around about Moushley Graham, a humorous and adorable interpretation of Ashley Graham as a tiny mouse.

This mod changes Ashley from a full sized human woman to a tiny plush mouse that sits atop Leon's head, much like Remy from Disney's animated movie Ratatouille. This mod injects some much-needed humor and cuteness into the grim dark game.
