Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves is the fourth live-action film based on the popular tabletop RPG franchise. It is a fantasy movie, but it is also a heist movie. Edgin and Holga are wrongfully imprisoned after a job goes poorly. They escape hoping to meet back up with Kira, Edgin’s daughter; and Forge, their faithful teammate.

When it turns out Forge was responsible for their imprisonment, Edgin and Holga gather allies together to dethrone Forge, steal his money, and get back Kira. That’s the basic setup for Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, and it is a laugh riot. There will be spoilers in this list of the best quotes.

8 “That’s The Bucket Where Our Pee Freezes.”

Edgin in Dungeons & Dragons Honor Among Thieves

The opening to Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves seemingly sets up this orc as one of the movie’s big baddies. He is eventually escorted into prison, wherein he meets Edgin and Holga.

Holga is eating a potato while Edgin is knitting some gloves, poorly, for his daughter. Edgin says this line to the orc stranger as he gives a tour of their prison cell. It’s not Edgin’s best line in the movie, but it does set up how fast of a tongue he has as a bard/thief.

7 “I Didn’t Realize You’d Put Your Finger In It…”

Forge in Dungeons & Dragons Honor Among Thieves

Once Edgin and Holga break out of prison, they make a beeline to find Forge and Kira. Forge welcomes them initially with open arms, and even brings them tea. The conversation should be serious, but Forge keeps on talking about how the tea is too hot. So, he calls in Sofina, a wizard, to cool the tea down.

Instead of casting a cold-based wield around the cup, Sofina sticks her finger in Forge’s liquid, which disgusts him. It’s a scene that’s perfectly comedic thanks to Hugh Grant’s performance as Forge.

6 “Just Pay Them With Magic.”

Simon talking to Doric in Dungeons & Dragons Honor Among Thieves

Simon is a bad sorcerer, especially next to how powerful their rival, Sofina, is as a red wizard. Even though Edgin and Holga know Simon is a bad sorcerer, they still ask him to solve things with magic.

Holga says this line to Simon to pay for the drinks at the bar while they exit. It’s a recurring joke that pays off throughout Honor Among Thieves, but this line has to be one of the funnier occurrences. Thankfully, Simon does get better as a sorcerer by the end.

5 “Yes.”

A corpse in Dungeons & Dragons Honor Among Thieves

Once Edgin’s crew has the plan to break into Forge’s fault, they run into a snag. The vault is sealed by magic and only a powerful item, a helmet, can break the spell. This leads the crew into a graveyard filled with the fallen brethren of Holga’s people, who fought against dragons.

Someone here was the last one to see the helmet and Simon thankfully has a coin that will allow them to ask a corpse five questions before they become dead again. Unfortunately, the first corpse they bring up keeps saying “Yes,” because Edgin is messing up how he asks questions. The overall scene is great, with each corpse interaction being better than the last.

4 “I Did Good.”

In their quest to find this magical helmet, the crew meets Xenk, a Paladin who leads them into a dungeon. They are about to get to the treasure when they come across a bridge that has been rigged with gnome magic. After Xenk explains a very detailed way to break the trap, Simon accidentally triggers the mechanism and the whole thing collapses.

Thankfully, Simon figures out how to use a stick Holga is carrying, which turns out to be a Hither and Tither Staff. This item basically makes portals just like from the game Portal. That’s when Simon congratulates himself and says he did good by triggering the trap.

3 “Did He Eat The Last Lair Too?”

The traps in this helmet dungeon are not the only thing Edgin’s crew has to worry about. They run into assassins, and in their battle, they awaken a dragon. Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves has to be one of the best adaptations based on the franchise, because it features both dungeons and dragons in this same scene.

The funny thing is, this dragon is a big boi who can barely fit through his cave. That’s when Edgin makes this joke to Xenk, asking if this dragon ate his last lair.

2 “What Madness Is This?”

Edgin in Dungeons & Dragons Honor Among Thieves

The final act of the movie has Edgin and crew split up to set up the fantasy heist of a lifetime. Simon and Edgin try to distract guards with a projection of Edgin, who is playing a song like a bard would. As Simon is still bad at magic at this point, the spell goes horribly wrong as the hologram version of Edgin keeps skipping as if it were a CD.

It then starts to morph into one of the creepiest depictions of Chris Pine (as Edgin) ever, and a random guard says this line about the madness. When this movie comes out digitally and on Blu-ray, one can bet the Internet will be all over making a GiF of this scene.

1 “I Think You Got Her.”

Doric as an Owlbear in Dungeons & Dragons Honor Among Thieves

The climactic fight with Sofina is the best fight scene in the movie. Everyone is fighting in full form, and they eventually get the best of her. Once her magic is locked away, Doric goes to town on Sofina in her Druid’s Owlbear form.

The beating is reminiscent of the scene from The Avengers, wherein The Hulk starts to whip Loki around like a doll. In Doric’s rage, Edgin tries to calm her down by saying the obvious line, “I think you got her.”
