Starting on Tuesday, May 26 Pokemon GO trainers are going to have an exciting new Legendary Raid Boss to battle and add to their Pokedex. The iconic trio of draconic Legendaries from Pokemon Black and Pokemon White are on their way to the mobile AR game and the battles kick off with the spotlight on Reshiram.
In order to secure the exciting new Pokedex entry, Pokemon GO trainers are going to have to figure out how to beat Reshiram. This powerful Pokemon is strong against a lot of different -types, so players will have to assemble a team that takes advantage of Reshiram's weaknesses.
Although the most skilled and powerful trainers could duo Reshiram with the right weather boosts and Friendship damage bonuses, it is recommended that players get a group of five or more high level trainers if they want to take this one down without any major struggles.
Reshiram is a Dragon- and Flying-type, which means that its primary weaknesses are going to be Dragon-, Ground-, and Rock-. A few of the best Reshiram counters have been popular choices for previous Raid Bosses, so hopefully players already have a fairly powerful team assembled. If not, be sure to take advantage of Elite TMs and lots of Candy and Stardust to power up a strong roster before entering this Legendary Raid Battle.
Best Reshiram Counters
Dialga - Dragon Breath/Draco Meteor
Rayquaza - Dragon Tail/Outrage
Rampardos - Smack Down/Rock Slide
Haxorus - Dragon Tail/Dragon Claw
Great Reshiram Counters
Palkia - Dragon Tail/Draco Meteor
Salamence - Dragon Tail/Outrage
Dragonite - Dragon Tail/Dragon Claw
Garchomp - Dragon Tail/Outrage
Assembling a powerful roster from those options will give trainers the easiest path to victory when this raid rolls around next week. There are some other, less powerful options that will do in a pinch as well, like Terrakion, Tyranitar, or Groudon. Those are all very powerful Pokemon and respectable options if you need to pivot to a Rock-type strategy to counter a Dragon-type fast or charge move.
For now, players may want to keep hunting down the best Unova Pokemon in the game if improving their Battle Raid rosters is their primary goal. Be sure to check back in the near future for more Pokemon GO strategy guides, news, and updates. Until then, good luck out there, trainers!
