Plants Vs. Zombies has been a successful franchise for countless years that first graced players' mobiles in 2009 where they were challenged with protecting their garden from the brain hungry zombies. Their only line of defense was the assortment of plants they could grow on their front lawn to keep the undead away.

Starting off the list was the Facebook exclusive title Plants Vs. Zombies: Adventures. It had a variety of modes such as town-building that allowed players to buy buildings and decorations while growing plants, these plants were then used to defend vehicles in the Road Trip mode.

Like many Facebook games there was also a final mode called Brainball mode which allowed players to invade another player's town with the goal to collect brains. If they had collected enough they would be rewarded with Gems. Unfortunately, this game was removed from Facebook in 2014, meaning players are no longer able to compete against others while enjoying this different art style from the usual franchise.

6 Plants Vs. Zombies: Battle For Neighborville

Although it may appear low on the list, similar to the third-person shooter titles that came before it, Plants Vs. Zombies: Battle For Neighborville was received with high praises from players, especially those that were fans of the original Garden Warfare franchise. Players were able to choose between the two sides such as the much-loved Plants, that included some old favorites as well as some new additions, or the zombies with their own group of characters to learn.

Gamers would get to use their abilities across a variety of game modes, but one favorite of players was the PvP. Besides this, fans of the franchise also had high praise for the amazing single-player campaign that can be found inside Battle For Neighborville that was both intense and hilarious.

5 Plants Vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare

As the original spin-off of the Plants Vs. Zombies franchise. Garden Warfare was brave enough to take a step away from the tower defense genre to make another combative game that saw players taking the rivalry between the plants and zombies to a different sort of battlefield. In this third-person shooter players are free to decide between an assortment of classes on both the Plant and Zombie side that have their advantages as well as disadvantages against one another.

Plants Vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2 worked off its predecessor improving on the issues many players had with the original to make an even better Garden Warfare experience. Introducing new classes for each side made the game modes players were familiar with would feel different as they had new opponents to compete against.

For the first time in the Plants Vs. Zombies series the plants have finally got the upper hand on the Zombies. This meant that many of the co-op game modes saw the zombies attempting to defend themselves from the onslaught of plants coming their way. Once again, this third-person shooter has a brilliant Player vs Player combat mode on all new maps with plenty more customization options available.

3 Plants Vs. Zombies: Heroes

This game can only be enjoyed on Mobile with no other platforms currently available for it, however, this didn't stop many players from becoming addicted to building their perfect deck.

This title could also only be enjoyed on Mobile but continued to be loved by fans of the franchise that enjoyed the new editions to their Plant army. Not to forget mentioning the new ways to charge them up with Plant Food in a hope to defend their lawn against the comedic advances of the Zombie army that also has some new characters.

Overall, by far the best Plants Vs. Zombies game out of the entire franchise must go to the original title that first released in 2009. While releasing on a wide range of platforms such as PC, PlayStation, and Xbox Plants Vs. Zombies was mostly enjoyed by players through their mobile.

This simple title that introduced many mobile gamers to tower defense titles. They continued to be amazed by the game's detailed art style as well as the large variety of Plants that were already available for players to use even in its first game.
