Donald Glover is one of the most popular actors of today. Born in California in 1983, Glover started his professional acting career in the mid-2000s and ever since then, has appeared in many movies as well as TV shows. He isn't active only as an actor, but also devotes his time to music, using the stage names of Childish Gambino and mcDJ.

At one point, the fans campaigned for Glover to play Spider-Man, but the role ultimately went to Andrew Garfield. Glover also could have played other characters such as Willy Wonka or Barack Obama. But for every role he didn't get, there have been many well-received movies and TV shows that Donald Glover's fans can enjoy seeing him in.

5 Solo: A Star Wars Story (2018)

Solo Lando

A lot of fans of the older Star Wars movies weren't so thrilled with Solo, but others loved it because it's a space adventure with many fun and tension-filled moments. What's more, it also has solid actors, including Donald Glover as the iconic Lando Calrissian. Lando has a complicated history with Han Solo, but nevertheless, he helps save the day more than once, proving he's one of the good guys.

Glover's Lando doesn't have as much space in the movie as his fans would have liked, but he steals every scene he appears in for himself. What's more, thanks to his presence, the Star Wars fans finally get to see how some important things happened — for example, how Han Solo first got his hands on his legendary ship, the Millennium Falcon.

4 Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017)

Spider-Man Homecoming 2017 Aaron Davis

Even though Donald Glover didn't get to play Peter Parker in the end (much to his fans' disappointment), he at least met Parker in Tom Holland's first solo Spider-Man movie. Glover appears only briefly as Aaron Davis, a criminal whom Spider-Man tries to interrogate and almost fails horribly. Even in the relatively short scene, Glover leaves a strong impression.

Not only did he bring humor into the scene, but this character also holds importance in the comics. Aaron Davis is none other than Miles Morales' uncle, and Miles Morales, is, of course, the new Spider-Man who takes on the mantle after Peter Parker's death. Glover's Aaron also mentions his nephew in Spider-Man: Homecoming, effectively proving that both Peter Parker and Miles Morales exist in the MCU.

3 The Martian (2015)

The Martian 2015

Donald Glover usually plays leading roles in TV series, and when he appears in movies, he tends to portray supporting parts. However, his fans still won't miss him in the intelligent and fun science fiction movie based on Andy Weir's successful novel. Matt Damon stars as Mark Watney, an astronaut who's left behind on Mars and has to figure out how to survive before the people on Earth can rescue him.

Even though The Martian didn't win any of the seven Oscars it was nominated for, it got high ratings and good reviews from both the critics and audiences. It has a strong cast overall, including Donald Glover as Rich Purnell, a JPL astrodynamicist, who helps devise a plan how to save Mark Watney's life. In this role, Glover proves that he is just as comfortable playing brilliant scientists as any other type of role.

2 Community

Community was the show that first truly brought Donald Glover into the public eye and proved his immense comedy talent. In this sitcom, viewers are treated to a story about a group of very different people who are all attending community college — even though most of them are well past the age when students usually go to college. The diverse and talented cast, as well as the fast pace and intelligent sense of humor, made Community a big hit among audiences.

It helps that each episode deals with a different topic or a pop culture phenomenon. It's difficult to choose a favorite in the show considering all main characters have a lot to offer, but Donald Glover's Troy Barnes would be a strong contender for many fans who watched the series. Community ran for six seasons in total, between 2009 and 2015.

1 Atlanta

To this day, Donald Glover's best-rated TV series is also the one he created, once again proving the wide range of his talent. Atlanta focuses on two cousins, Earn (Glover) and Alfred (Brian Tyree Henry) who are living in Atlanta and are trying to become successful rappers. But on their journey to music and success, they face many problems. Despite dealing with serious topics that will be familiar to many people, Atlanta also doesn't shy away from humor.

The show manages to mix drama and comedy, putting them into a coherent whole. The main characters are sympathetic, and it's easy to cheer on them. With the newest, third season premiering this month, it's a good opportunity to come back to the first two seasons, which aired in 2016 and 2018, and watch once again how Earn's and Alfred's unforgettable story started and evolved over time.
