Thanks to Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics' Marvel's Avengers, players finally have another superhero game to enjoy. Moreover, instead of controlling just one character, this title allows them to control the most famous members of the Avengers! As such, players can fight some of Marvel's villains as the Earth's Mightiest Heroes. Moreover, they also get to enjoy an entertaining action-adventure title with an interesting narrative, courtesy of the devs.

However, fans may also want to try out other superhero games, especially if they loved Marvel's Avengers. In fact, players may find other Marvel games of the past just as entertaining as Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics' new release. Which Marvel games should be tried first?

10 Lego Marvel's Avengers

Fans who want a more carefree Avengers experience might want to try Lego Marvel's Avengers. Released in 2016, Lego Marvel's Avengers takes a lot of cues from the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) and includes characters from both the film franchises and comic books. Interestingly, the game also follows the plot of the first two Avengers films, as well as the first two Captain America films (The First Avenger, The Winter Soldier), Iron Man 3, and Thor: The Dark World.

Aside from the main plotline, the game remains relatively kid-friendly as with other Lego videogame. And while the game features New York as a massive open-world hub, characters can also travel to popular Marvel locations such as Sokovia, the Helicarrier, and Asgard. Fans who want a relatively chill experience that follows the main MCU story should go play Lego Marvel's Avengers.

9 Lego Marvel Super Heroes

Interestingly, fans who want to play a Lego Marvel game with a unique story should try Lego Marvel Super Heroes. Similar to Lego Marvel's Avengers, Marvel Super Heroes follows the same gameplay formula as other hit Lego titles (e.g., Batman 2: DC Super Heroes, Star Wars: The Complete Saga).

And like other Lego titles, Marvel Super Heroes transforms an otherwise typical supervillain plot into a kid-friendly variant. As such, Marvel Super Heroes tasks the players to recruit various Marvel heroes against Doctor Doom and Loki. In the game, the two supervillains use Cosmic Bricks (shards of Lego Silver Surfer's board) to create the Doom Ray of Doom in a plot to conquer Earth.

8 Marvel's Spider-Man

Insomniac Games' Spider-Man proves just how incredibly-immersive a Spider-Man game can become given the right direction. Despite having its own unique story, Insomniac's hit superhero title proved worthy of the brand it carried. After all, outside the main plot, Peter Parker indeed focuses on taking down crime as the Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man.

Players who loved Marvel's Avengers should try out Spider-Man for a lighter open-world experience. It feels awesome being able to web-sling around New York while utilizing Spider-Man's skillset. Moreover, with a plot that involves many members of Spider-Man's rogues' gallery, Insomniac's Spider-Man feels straight out of a comic book.

7 Marvel Ultimate Alliance Trilogy

Fans who want to make their own team of superheroes should play Marvel Ultimate Alliance. In this trilogy of games, players stop the schemes of various villains and reenact popular Marvel stories on their own terms. Moreover, players build their dream team of up to four heroes, level up and gain skills and unique abilities, and even use the characters in their different costumes. At its core, Ultimate Alliance serves as a great tactical team-based brawler that will keep players glued to their screen.

Moreover, the first titles in the franchise featured a ton of side content for players to accomplish. These include simulation discs that reenact popular comic book arcs into in-game levels, as well as quiz machines that grill players on Marvel trivia.

6 Deadpool

Fans of Ryan Reynolds' Deadpool know how crazy-dangerous the Merc-with-a-Mouth gets if he gets his way. If the comics are any indication, Deadpool has a knack of turning everything into a hilarious mess. Thankfully, players can do exactly that in Deadpool's signature brutal comedy in his own game.

In Deadpool, Wade Wilson tries to make his own game...inside the game. Overall, the game features a ton of action setpieces and fourth-wall-breaking moments, courtesy of Deadpool and his machinations. Players loved Deadpool for its humor in general, even if the gameplay needs a bit of work. Then again, Deadpool entertains regardless.

5 X-Men Legends II: Rise Of Apocalypse

Players who loved Ultimate Alliance will appreciate X-Men Legends II: Rise of Apocalypse. Featuring the same gameplay premise as Ultimate Alliance, Legends II has players assemble their dream X-Men team to combat Apocalypse and his forces. Moreover, in an interesting twist, players can choose members from both the X-Men and Magneto's Brotherhood of Evil Mutants. As such, players can mix-match their favorite hero and villain combinations to make the best team possible.

Legends II becomes every X-Fan's dream when the game allows users to change the characters' costumes as well as partake in side missions that test their X-Men knowledge. At its core, Legends II serves as one of the best games that fully represents the independently-awesome superhero brand of the Mutants.

4 Marvel Vs. Capcom: Infinite

Fans of fighting games might want to check how Marvel's heroes take on Capcom's protagonists. Thanks to Marvel vs. Capcom, they can do exactly that. Moreover, in Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite, Marvel and Capcom's protagonists team up against Thanos and villains from the two company's respective franchises. As such, the resulting multiversal mess seems quite fitting for a plot involving the Infinity Gauntlet.

Albeit not strictly a Marvel-only game, MvC: Infinite serves as a great way to introduce fans to just how popular Marvel has become to earn crossover games. Moreover, it's interesting to see how Marvel characters fare from a fighting game perspective as they unleash devastating combos against multiple bosses and characters.

3 Spider-Man 2

A 2004 title, Spider-Man 2 had perhaps the best iteration of a web-swinging open-world Manhattan at the time. The game loosely follows the plot of the Spider-Man 2 film; however, it still offers quite the unique experience that makes it a fan favorite and a classic.

Fans who wanted an open-world Spidey game at the time appreciated Spider-Man 2 for its non-linear take on extra content. In fact, aside from the linear campaign, the game features tons of side missions Spider-Man can take from various civilians. These include day-to-day Spider-Man "tasks" such as stopping speeding cars, fighting criminals, and delivering injured people to hospitals.

2 Marvel: Future Fight

Fans who want an authentic Marvel experience on mobile platforms will appreciate Future Fight. In this mobile game, players create the three-man team of their favorite Marvel superheroes, each with their own set of abilities and skills. However, unlike the Ultimate Alliance, the mobile game has its own unique and evolving story across 13 chapters.

Users can purchase extra content such as costumes and exclusive heroes, as well as wait for hero tie-ins that introduce extra content usually based on MCU releases. Additionally, the game also allows players to traverse the levels on their own or even let the game "play" levels for them with the right special resources.

1 X-Men: Destiny

Comic fans who want to become their own heroes will love X-Men: Destiny. After all, this game lets them control game-exclusive Mutants that had just discovered their mutations. The game has its own plot set in the Astonishing X-Men comic series, which in itself can tickle long-time X-Fans. However, what makes this game lovable is the fact that players can either join the X-Men or the Brotherhood of Mutants. As such, their choice inevitably sets the "destiny" of the character in question.

In-game choices of the characters – as well as their unique backgrounds – also affect the various outcomes of the game. Despite Destiny's rather aged gameplay, the fact that it features a unique and cohesive X-Men story makes this game a must-try for Marvel fans.
