Therefore, because of how overpowered he is in the comics, a lot of games struggle to adapt him to the experience since there's every chance he could end up being game-breaking. Playing a VR game from the point of view of Rocket Raccoon or the Hulk already sounds like a lot of fun, but being able to take control of Deadpool is very much a dream come true for longtime fans of the character. Marvel Powers United is a 4 player co-op game that is admittedly very short and a little rough around the edges, but Deadpool is still nonetheless a great addition to the cast who comes with a lot of his signature weapons.

Dual SMGs, high-power magnums, and of course, his signature katana all make an appearance here, and it wouldn't be Deadpool without his cheesy one-liners, of which he has many. The game itself received mixed reviews upon its release, but if players can look past the shortcomings, they can expect to have a blast playing through levels as the smart-mouthed mercenary himself.

Alongside being the narrator for certain missions, Deadpool is actually a playable character in Lego Marvel Superheroes who can be unlocked by collecting all Red Bricks that are scattered throughout the open world, and by progressing through the story. Considering the game features Lego characters, Deadpool isn't as gory or bad-mouthed as he is in some of his other iterations, but he still has his signature weapons and a few unique abilities that make him stand out.

LEGO has released a plethora of licensed games over the years, with some of them still regarded as being the best family-friendly games around.

He can swing around his dual Katana at lightning speed to cut down any villains or thugs who get in his way, but he also has a large arsenal of firearms which he can let loose if he feels like taking someone down from range. Since Deadpool and Wolverine are both technically un-killable, they are also the only two characters who will simply turn into a skeleton if they "die."

Not only is Deadpool a playable character in the top-down MOBA gameMarvel Super War, but he also comes with a variety of weird and wonderful abilities that feed into the silly nature of his character. Still, these abilities aren't just for show as they can also be pretty devastating on the battlefield, especially Catch Me If You Can, which allows him to slice his way directly through an enemy, dealing a tremendous amount of damage and buffing his next attack in the process.

He also comes with a handful of quirky outfits that add some extra flare to the character, such as Pirate Deadpool, which looks just as awesome as it sounds. His voicelines are unfortunately a little toned down for this game which does lose a little of his iconic charm, but when it comes to gameplay, he's an incredible amount of fun to experience.

The 10 Best Retro Marvel Video Games

Marvel's Spider-Man may lead the way in terms of modern examples, but there have been some equally excellent retro superhero games over the years.

What makes Deadpool shine when he's being used in combat is his Tele-splode AOE attack that can easily decimate entire groups of enemies in one go. He also has melee attacks that put his allies to shame when it comes to speed, and he can even shake off debuffs with a single ability, which makes him extremely useful for bosses. Ultimate Alliance 2 does a fantastic job at making the merc feel as powerful as fans would come to expect without making him outright unfair in his mechanics.

After fans were clamoring for Deadpool to be added to the game after the release of Marvel's Midnight Suns, he was eventually offered as a DLC character, and his variety of powers make him one of the best characters in the entire game. Deadpool does have a few Attack Cards that can inflict some damage to any enemies standing in his way, such as Quick Shot and Spread The Love, but by far his best card is Burning Sensation, which allows the mouthy merc to deal double damage to his opponents.

He's seen as more of a tank archetype because of his passive abilities, which allow him to recover a good chunk of health each turn, along with an additional amount depending on how many stacks of En Fuego he has. His golden Midnight Sun outfit is exactly the type of flashy and vibrant costume a character like him would go for, but he also has a few other unlockables too which make him a great inclusion.

Marvel vs Capcom 3 has gone down as one of the most fast-paced and competitive fighting games in the history of the genre, and for a while after its release, Deadpool was one of the characters who were considered to be top-tier. A lot of this comes from the fact that his moveset is made up of completely random attacks, which makes him very hard to predict. For example, while his dual pistols make him decent at range, he can also control the neutral game extremely well with his katana, and if he manages to get in close, he can even use Ryu's very own Shoryuken.

Deadpool also feels extremely fun and charismatic in this game as he is constantly talking throughout a match and will literally say the name of every one of his moves. He even breaks the fourth wall on numerous occasions including in his Level 3 Super where he picks up the Super bar to hit a home run on his opponent. The charm, the dialogue, and the crazy moveset all result in one of Deadpool's best iterations to date, and it would be the very best if not for one other fantastic game.

Usually, when Deadpool shows up in a game, he's simply one of many playable characters, but High Moon Studio took on the incredibly difficult task of creating a standalone game based entirely around the character, and not only did they achieve this, but they made an absolute thrill-ride of a game. The game manages to perfectly encapsulate the cheeky and sharp-tongued attitude of Deadpool right from the beginning where he's seen relaxing in a dirty apartment room with an opened box of pizza, pondering on whether he wants to star in his own video game or not. Throughout the game, Deadpool will constantly interact with the bickering voices inside his head, and will even talk directly to the player, which makes every cutscene extremely entertaining, especially when other X-Men are involved.

In terms of gameplay, the game follows a hack-and-slash formula where Deadpool can instantly switch between his katana and guns while also being able to teleport around the environment in the blink of an eye. The game does still manage to remain challenging thanks to the hordes of enemies that appear and the brutal bosses. Deadpool might not have been universally beloved by critics, but no game manages to capture the endless charm and humor of the katana-wielding mercenary quite like this one, with it now being seen as somewhat of a classic by both Deadpool and X-Men fans.
