10 Most Disgusting Superpowers In Marvel Comics, Ranked

Not all superpowers are pretty. These heroes and villains in Marvel Comics have some abilities that can get downright gruesome to look at.

With all the team-ups that have occurred in Marvel Comics over the years, it is unsurprising that some strange couples have formed. But the very best couples, even if they’ve not always been together, have helped show readers how amazing love can be, even while trying to save the world.

8 Tony Stark & Pepper Potts

First Meeting: Tales Of Suspense #45 (1963)

pepper pots and iron man
  • Relationship Status: Seriously On/Off

Depicted as one of the most significant romances in the MCU to date, Tony & Pepper started with Pepper working for Tony as his assistant, but at the time, was dating Happy Hogan and even married him. However, once this ended, she and Tony continued their relationship, which has gone back and forth till this day, partly due to his cynicism.

They’ve been married, had children and grandchildren shown in future worlds, Tony has done crazy things to save Pepper’s life in the past, and she has been a rock for him in times of distress, but by far the most constant form of relationship they’ve shared was in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

7 Hulkling & Wiccan

First Meeting: Young Avengers #1 (2005)

Hulkling & Wiccan
  • Relationship Status: Married

Hulkling and Wiccan are one of the modern darling couples of the Marvel Universe, having met and fallen for each other early in the first Young Avengers run, and they have pretty much stayed together flawlessly since then, staying on the Young Avengers team as some of the most faithful members and proving their love was the real thing.

Despite coming from vastly different worlds, Hulkling is a half-Skrull, half-Kree whose ancestry and life have been rough, while Wiccan had a crazy childhood with his fake mother, Scarlet Witch, and his twin brother, but nothing stopped the true love forming between this pair, leading to them getting engaged and married years ago. Despite the different paths they have taken at times, this pair will always be intricately tied together in Marvel Comics and could be introduced alongside their teammates soon in the MCU.

6 Vision & Scarlet Witch

First Meeting: Avengers #76 (1970)

Scarlet Witch & Vision
  • Relationship Status: It's Complicated

This pair’s relationship in Marvel Comics is every bit as strange as it is in the MCU. Similarly, they met as Avengers, having both joined the team after villainous origins, leading to them forming a bond despite Vision being an android. Their burgeoning relationship was major for Vision, helping him find humanity.

7 Best Marvel Comics Duos

Marvel Comics has a long history of excellent pairings. Whether romantic, friends or even enemies, Marvel Comics has some amazing duos.

In one of the earliest major marriage events in Marvel Comics, Vision and Scarlet Witch tied the knot and their early marriage adventures were a hugely entertaining series of issues. Following that, the saga of their children, Wanda’s meddling with magic, and their eventual falling apart made for a climactic ending to this significant relationship, though the two have found new friendships more recently, hinting at a possible future reunion.

5 Medusa & Black Bolt

First Meeting: Fantastic Four #45

Medusa & Black Bolt
  • Relationship Status: Ruling A Kingdom Together

The Inhumans aren’t a hugely well-explored piece of the Marvel Universe. Their kingdom of Attilan is ruled over secretly by Black Bolt and Medusa, the heads of the Royal Family. These powerful beings have appeared here and there over the years, but their first introduction was back in the pages of The Fantastic Four.

Despite civil wars, problems and difficulties fitting into the world of Marvel Comics, Medusa & Black Bolt have a lot of history and are incredibly loyal to each other. The lack of focus on them in Marvel Comics is one of the things that makes it easy for their relationship not to need turbulence to keep stories moving all the time.

4 Jean Grey & Cyclops

First Meeting: X-Men #1 (1963)

Jean Grey & Cyclops
  • Relationship Status: Love-Triangle With Wolverine

Both introduced as members of the first-ever X-Men team, Jean Grey and Cyclops have been major characters ever since. First love to each other as teenagers, their tumultuous relationship over the years has faced many challenges, but nothing has ever changed the love that they have for each other.

Cyclops never gave up on Jean. He has had to mourn her when she dies, on multiple occasions, even in multiple film adaptions, but they have always come back together. Currently leading the reformed X-Men team together, this pair is one of the most notable in the Marvel Universe, having even produced well-known faces like Cable as their child, which could link them to the MCU soon.

3 Jessica Jones & Luke Cage

First Meeting: The Pulse #14 (2006)

Jessica Jones & Luke Cage
  • Relationship Status: Happy Family

Jessica and Luke both have super strength, but more than that, connects them. Their street-level style of heroics led them to meet, and despite their differences, they fell for each other. Jessica initially backed away though and started dating Scott Lang, before realizing that she was pregnant with Luke’s child.

6 Biggest Marvel Comics Retcons (That Were For The Best)

Marvel Comics has instituted many retcons throughout its history, some of which turned out to be for the best.

This didn’t only get them back together, it also led to them falling truly in love. After the birth of their child, they also decided to get married and became a true family. Now linked forever and having lasted almost all of Jessica’s comic book history so far, this duo is entirely iconic, despite their seeming indifference to each other in their MCU appearances, though these may no longer be canon.

2 Reed Richards & Sue Storm

First Meeting: Fantastic Four #1 (1961)

Reed Richards & Sue Storm
  • Relationship Status: Soulmates

The going has never been easy when leading a superhero team together, but Marvel’s First Family was formed by the immediate connection that Reed Richards and Sue Storm had. They’ve been pretty much married the entire length of their comic book history, had incredibly powerful children that have shaped the future, and had an awful lot of fights despite their love for each other.

Having split up at times, but always finding their way back to each other, there are very few couples in comic book history that have been as steady for as long as Reed and Sue. They truly are a fantastic pairing. While they have been divorced on multiple occasions, their marriage always comes back together eventually, showing they are soulmates, whether it is in comics, movies, or some surprisingly great video games.

1 Spider-Man & Mary Jane

First Meeting: The Amazing Spider-Man #42 (1966)

Peter Parker & Mary Jane
  • Relationship Status: Desperately Reeling From One More Day

This relationship may have gotten more complicated in recent years, but it is the absolute pinnacle of iconic couples in Marvel Comics. Mary Jane was introduced to nearly a hundred issues before she finally became Peter’s primary love interest, in the wake of Gwen Stacy’s death. But since then, they have always been drawn back together.

MJ and Peter are the perfect couple, they’ve made many sacrifices to be together, and were happy for forty years, married for half of them, before the One More Day storyline erased their relationship from history. Despite that, the pair still found their way back to each other more recently and have been together, albeit more turbulently, ever since.
