Rosalina appeared to audiences for the very first time in Super Mario Galaxy in 2007. Although a reasonably recent addition to the Mario roster, compared to the likes of Peach and Luigi, Rosalina has nevertheless become a very popular and well-known character. This is, in part, likely due to the success of Super Mario Galaxy and its subsequent sequel Super Mario Galaxy 2 in 2010. The vast amount of galaxies and stories to explore in these unique games have made them fan favorites. Even Mario Odyssey took some queues from its predecessor.

Despite her initial introduction as a resident of outer space, Rosalina has quickly made her way into a plethora of both main and spin-off Mario games. She can be found throughout the franchise, and many fans of Mario would love to someday see a Rosalina-led game. With the announcement of Princess Peach: Showtime! there's still hope for a Rosalina title, but for now, there are still a solid amount of games for players to get their Rosalina fix.

8 Mario Sports Superstars

Mario Sports Superstars was released on the Nintendo 3DS in 2017. It involves several characters from the Mario universe competing in five different sports, including soccer, golf, tennis, baseball - all of which have had previous standalone games - and horse racing.

Rosalina is featured in Mario Sports Superstars as one of sixteen starting captains, and she participates in all the sports. In general, Rosalina's speed statistics are her lowest stat, and she isn't a great choice for golf, but she is best suited for soccer and tennis.

7 Mario Golf

Mario Golf is one of many Mario sports-themed games, although it is one of the longest-running in the history of the franchise. There are a total of seven official Mario Golf games. However, in 1999, Mario Golf was released twice, once on the N64 and again on the Game Boy Color. Both games were substantially different, with the Game Boy Color edition being more RPG-like and having more options for freeplay.

The initial Mario Golf game was released in 1991, however, Rosalina does not appear until the first installment after Super Mario Galaxy, which was Mario Golf: World Tour on the Nintendo 3DS - released in 2014 as the 5th title in the series. Rosalina appears as an unlockable character but is a default character in Mario Golf: Super Rush for the Nintendo Switch in 2021.

6 Mario Strikers: Battle League

Mario Strikers: Battle League was released in 2022 for the Nintendo Switch and features a whole host of Mario characters competing exclusively in soccer. The "battle" twist on the game is that there aren't really any rules, making for a fun if tilting game of soccer. Players can tackle and use items and special moves to either score or prevent the other team from scoring.

Rosalina appears in Mario Strikers: Battle League, the first installment in the series since 2007, as a playable character. She is an offensive player, with her highest stats being shooting and strength. Her special move is "orbital blast," in which she kicks the ball and launches it into outer space, gathering an ice trail as it returns to the ground. Rosalina then kicks the ball into the goal, and the ice trail will freeze players in its path.

5 Mario & Sonic At The Olympic Games

Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games is a series of competitive sports games that have been released with each Olympics since 2007, in anticipation of the 2008 Beijing Olympics. The game series sees beloved characters from the Mario and Sonic universes competing in various sports to win the Olympics.

Despite her creation in 2007, Rosalina did not appear in any of the Mario & Sonic games until Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games where she was featured as an unlockable character. This is surprising since Rosalina predates the existence of the series. However, Rosalina was used very sparingly in the years after her creation. Rosalina is also in the 2020 Tokyo edition of the game, also as an unlockable character whose discipline is surfing.

4 Mario Party

Mario Party is easily one of the more widely known names in the Mario franchise thanks to its easy mechanics and general accessibility to non-gaming crowds. Mario Party is a virtual board game set in various familiar and new areas featured in Mario. Players can roll dice, compete in mini-games, and strategize to win. The infamy comes from the RNG and unpredictable nature of the game, leaving the majority of things up to chance and happenstance.

Rosalina first debuted as a playable character in Mario Party 10, released for the Wii U in 2015. She quickly became a familiar pillar of the series, appearing as a default character in every subsequent console release - as well as Mario Party: The Top 100 which was released exclusively for Nintendo 3DS in 2017. In Super Mario Party, Rosalina has a very good custom dice which features two sides that give +2 coins and one that allows players to move 8 spaces. As always, though, there's no completely reliable strategy to the Mario Party games, and custom dice can do as much harm as they do good.

3 Super Smash Bros.

Super Smash Bros. is an immensely popular Nintendo spin-off game featuring a broad collection of familiar Nintendo characters, all coming together to brawl in various stages. The series garnered a massive cult following and has since become a huge name in competitive gaming with many Smash tournaments taking place every year.

Rosalina first appeared in Super Smash Bros.for Nintendo 3DS in 2014 and the same game for the Wii U later on in the year. Unlike many characters that are new to Super Smash Bros. Rosalina was introduced as a default playable character, not unlockable like a few others. She was also featured in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate for the Switch, released in 2018, again as a default character. In both games, Rosalina is paired with Luma, one of the star-like creatures from Super Mario Galaxy. Luma gives Rosalina extra reach and can block hits for her since it does not damage Rosalina if Luma is hit.

2 Super Mario 3D World

Super Mario 3D World was released on the Wii U in 2013 and re-released as Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury on the Switch in 2021. It's a 3D platformer known for its fantastic multiplayer capabilities, allowing players to choose between Mario, Luigi, Peach, and Toad. The game was a critical success and its secrets, mechanics, and creativity solidified it as a fantastic addition to the main Mario series.

Rosalina is not immediately available in Super Mario 3D World, but rather must be unlocked by players after completing the "Super Galaxy" level, which is set in the Super Mario Galaxy area. It features Lumas, familiar Super Mario Galaxy enemies, and the Comet Observatory can be seen in the background. This Rosalina can perform spin attacks and jump high. Nevertheless, she does generally run slower than Mario.

1 Mario Kart

Mario Kart is a longstanding spin-off in the Mario franchise and is often seen as a fan favorite from Nintendo - even prompting its very own ride in Super Nintendo World. Various characters from the Mario universe, and later characters from both Nintendo and the wider IP, go up against one another in a variety of racing styles. Mario Kart has always been multiplayer-friendly and quickly became a popular party game, especially since its release on the Nintendo Wii.

Mario Kart was the first spin-off to ever feature Rosalina after Super Mario Galaxy's release, debuting her in Mario Kart Wii in 2008 - before Super Mario Galaxy 2 was created. She has been in every Mario Kart game since 2008, as an unlockable character in Mario Kart Wii, Mario Kart 7, and Mario Kart 8. However, in Mario Kart 8 Ultimate for the Switch, she was a default playable character along with Baby Rosalina. Rosalina is well known, along with Peach, for her iconic biker outfit.
