Modern Warfare 2 allows for a wide variety of play styles due to the large roster of weapons available. Some of these can be unlocked through the standard leveling system, but others require players to use the base of each weapon to unlock new ones.
Here, we go over five unique classes that will give players a few different ways to adapt to Call of Duty's ever-changing meta. Each class is also incredibly accessible, with each primary being easily unlocked through the standard leveling (which just requires players to play the game) or through weapon leveling.
Either way, it won't take players long to put together these options and jump into MW2 to see which one they like best.
5 Best Shotgun Loadout - Expedite 12
Shotguns provide a unique play style in Call of Duty as they act very differently from every other class of gun. Using a single spread-shot bullet, players can eliminate enemies easily as long as they can close the gap.
The Expedite 12 is the best shotgun by far due to its fast rate of fire and large magazine. As long as players aim down sights when firing, this shotgun will one-shot enemies from a decent range but will lack slightly when firing from the hip. This is where other shotguns outperform the Expedite, but it's definitely not worth using them just for this factor alone.
The .50 GS pairs well with any shotgun as it has the highest killing potential at range without compromising on unique mechanics, such as the Basilisk. Although players shouldn't rely on the Deagle for ranged engagements, it's good to have it available when players really need it. Having a smoke and a Molotov will help to close the gap on the enemy and isolate specific choke angles for the player to catch their enemy on the back foot.
This perk package (Tracker, Double Time, Fast Hands and Overclock) will keep players mobile and make it easy to track down enemies in the area using map knowledge. Finally, the ammo box will give players the opportunity to restock when low on supplies to continue any long killstreaks.
4 Best SMG Loadout - Fennec 45
The SMGs provide deadly firepower at close range (similar to the shotguns) but are slightly more versatile when it comes to medium-range combat. The Fennec, although not the best all-around SMG, it is the most deadly when in close range of the enemy. However, this can be adapted using attachments and tuning. This means pairing it with a setup that helps players to close the gap is crucial.
A flash grenade will blind enemies on explosion, so timing this well with a push into confined spaces can give players a huge advantage even when used as a distraction. Paired with the Drill Charge, players will have an easy time controlling the more contained areas of the map without having to expose themselves to every angle.
We recommend using the same perk package and field upgrade as the shotgun loadout, as players will be playing a similar role to that class setup.
3 Best Sniper Loadout - Signal 50

Snipers have changed a lot over Call of Duty's lifetime. From the iconic quick scoping montages of Black Ops to much slower-paced hard scoping that has now become meta. Either way, the one-shot capability and marksman accuracy will always be a unique experience in any game Call of Duty title.
The Signal 50 has a high rate of fire compared to the other snipers but also provides the one-shot kill that is essential for sniping. Pairing this with the X12 sidearm gives players the ability to contest with enemies looking to attack the flank.
The heartbeat sensor and claymore pair well, allowing players to locate enemies out of their line of sight, meaning they won't have to change position to locate them. The claymore will provide flanking protection from enemies looking to get up close and personal. The perk selection will help players stay hidden from enemy tech and hinder enemies' tactical and lethal equipment.
Finally, using field upgrade pro allows players to bring two separate tools. The tactical insertion lets players choose their respawn location whilst the deployable shield can provide cover in open areas of the map.
2 Best LMG Loadout - RAAL 13
LMGs are not currently in the meta of MW2, but we can expect that to change. Players are slowly discovering how overpowered the LMGs are, and the RAAL 13 is at the top of that list. It's likely the LMGs, and the RAAL, in particular, will be a popular weapon when Warzone 2.0 releases.
With incredibly high damage output, even at range, the RAAL is one of the most reliable weapons players can use (not to mention the almost bottomless magazine). Players may never need to switch to their secondary as long as they time their long reloads well, but it is good to bring the X12 for a quick second option, just in case.
The Heartbeat Sensor will help players locate enemies who may be hiding. This comes in handy with LMGs as the ready time is incredibly slow which makes it easy for enemies to catch the user off guard. The claymore will also help to shut off flanking routes allowing players to post up and cover corridors without needing to watch their backs.
Bringing a deployable cover here can also be handy, as players may want to use the "mount" mechanic in places where it's not available. This lowers the recoil of the weapon giving players more accuracy at range.
1 Best Assault Rifle Loadout - Kastov 762
Last but not least is the Assault Rifle loadout. The Kastov 762 provides deadly firepower, even at range, without compromising on ADS time or recoil (and has some easy camo challenges). The Snapshot grenade in the utility slot will give players the drop on enemies hiding in dark areas or corners. This is especially a problem in MW2 as camping has become a larger part of the meta.
By pairing Scavenger and Overclock in the perk package, players will rarely run out of ammo as the munitions box will be ready more often in their field upgrade slot. This is crucial for players looking to go on longer kill streaks as this is getting harder and harder with the strength of Skill Based Matchmaking (SBMM).
