Final Fantasy 16, right now, is a PS5 exclusive. Sony has received this treatment in the past before like with Final Fantasy 7 Remake. It was on PS4 first before hitting other platforms. So, after this timed exclusivity is over, will the game head over to the Xbox family or maybe even the Switch via the Cloud?

It’s hard to say if those two consoles will ever get Final Fantasy 16, but fans don’t have to worry. There are great games to play on both consoles until then. Also, for the PS5 fans that finish the game, there’s more non-Final Fantasy games to enjoy on their console like Final Fantasy 16 as well.

8 Attack On Titan

Fighting a boss in the Attack On Titan game

Final Fantasy 16 has giant versions of Summons, which that game calls Eikons, that duke it out in big boss battles. Nations wield these Eikons by implanting them inside human hosts that they then call Dominants. Dominants are like walking nuclear bombs, sort of like how Titans are used in the popular anime and manga series Attack on Titan.

In 2016, a faithful adaptation of the first few arcs was released and it is a thrill ride. Zipping through cities and taking down giant behemoths is a blast as an action RPG. So, fans of the Eikon sections of Final Fantasy 16 may indeed enjoy this adaptation.

7 Devil May Cry 5

Dante from Devil May Cry 5

Ryota Suzuki helped design the combat of Final Fantasy 16. Previous to this he also helped design the battle elements of Devil May Cry 5 for Capcom. There are a lot of stylish action games out there but Devil May Cry started it all. There are three protagonists in the campaign and they each have a different play style to them.

Nero, for example, can slingshot around the battlefield with his cybernetic arm while Final Fantasy 16 sits still and lets his summoned beasts do the fighting for him. Final Fantasy 16 has a good combat system, but it is nothing compared to this game or series overall.

6 Diablo 4

Fighting enemies in co-op in Diablo 4

Diablo 4 has some connections to Final Fantasy 16 and it’s not just because it was released in the same month of June. One of the main characters, Lorath, is voiced by Ralph Ineson who also voices Cidolfus. It’s wild that the star is in two massive RPGs in the same month especially since he rarely does game voices.

The action gameplay may not be as fluid or intense as Final Fantasy 16, but it is satisfying beyond all reason. There’s something just so delicious about collecting loot with bigger numbers attached.

5 Elden Ring

Elden Ring is still a hot topic over a year later as fans are discovering more things. They cannot get over the amazement of the open-world environments as it was a giant leap forward for Soulslikes of all kinds. For those that are missing the open-world structure from previous Final Fantasy games, they may want to check out Elden Ring.

It will crank up the difficulty for sure, but there are accessible things about it as well. Co-op can even the odds for boss fights and the open-world allows players to tackle biomes in whatever order they please with a few exceptions.

4 NieR: Automata

Exploring the world in NieR Automata

NieR: Automata is a bleak outlook on life. Earth has been reduced to ruins and the last remaining humans live out their days in space. Players assume the role of 2B and are accompanied by her partner 9S. They are androids sent to Earth by these human survivors to help collect data for the survival of the species.

The story may be dark, but the action is fun beyond belief. It was designed by PlatinumGames in collaboration with Square Enix and if this game is interesting, there is also an anime to check out now.

3 Shadow Of The Colossus

Wanderer chases one of the Colossi through a grassy expanse

Shadow of the Colossus is one of the best games on the PS2. It can be boiled down to a series of boss fights wherein a young warrior must take down literal colossi with just a sword and a bow. It was remastered on PS3 and then remade on PS4, which is how the game should be played today.

It looks amazing on the PS4, and it is even more drop-dead gorgeous on the PS5. There are few action-adventure games like it. With little to no story, this is a haunting game with one heck of a twist at the end. It should satiate the love of giants that players may develop for Eikons in Final Fantasy 16.

2 Triangle Strategy

Fighting a battle in Triangle Strategy

Triangle Strategy is the next best thing to a Final Fantasy Tactics sequel in years. It was also developed by Square Enix and features classic strategical gameplay. It may feel like an odd pick for fans of Final Fantasy 16, but the sprites shouldn't fool players.

The narrative is politically infused with backstabbings aplenty, and it's all over something as simple as salt. There are branching paths to the story as well, giving players a reason to replay it multiple times.

1 The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

Geralt and Triss in The Witcher 3

Game of Thrones is admittedly a huge influence on Final Fantasy 16 as told by the creative team behind it. That’s from a TV show perspective, but The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt must have influenced it from a gameplay angle. The dynamic open-world is missing along with bigger dialogue trees, but the action is there in Final Fantasy 16.

Also, Clive’s gruff voice and demeanor sound a lot like Geralt, the main character of The Witcher series. It is simply one of the best action RPGs ever made. It can even be played on Switch, so there is no excuse not to enjoy it after Final Fantasy 16 wraps up.

Final Fantasy 16 was released on June 22, 2023 and is available on PS5.
