Sam Barlow's Immortality is now free to play for Netflix subscribers. Netflix has not had a ton of success in the gaming space, but that hasn't stopped the streaming giant from trying. Netflix's recent efforts have seen the company give away mobile games to its subscribers. This includes mobile games based on Netflix franchises like Stranger Things, but it has also included non-licensed gaming projects as well.

For those unfamiliar with Immortality, it launched earlier this year to rave reviews from critics. Immortality is one of the highest-rated new games of 2022, standing tall among the year's other big releases. From the creative mind of Sam Barlow, best known for Her Story and Telling Lies, Immortality has a unique gimmick where players click through film clips in an attempt to solve the mysterious disappearance of actress Marissa Marcel.

Immortality reviews especially praised the game's narrative, though some noted that it can be difficult for many to get to the narrative's most intriguing moments. Regardless, Netflix subscribers on mobile devices can now check out Immortality for themselves without paying anything beyond their usual fee. One thing to keep in mind, though, is that the Immortality download size is a whopping 12 GB on mobile, so some users may have to make some space before giving it a shot.

Immortality may be getting a lot more attention now thanks to the fact that it has been nominated for multiple awards at The Game Awards 2022. Immortality was nominated for Best Game Direction, Best Narrative, and Best Performance, with the latter a nod to Manon Gage's portrayal of Marissa Marcel. It's unclear if Immortality will actually take home any awards in light of rather stiff competition, but fans can find out by tuning in to The Game Awards on December 8.

Immortality is not the first time that one of Sam Barlow's games has been nominated at The Game Awards. Back in 2015, the critically-acclaimed Her Story was nominated for four awards, and it managed to take home the awards for Best Narrative and Best Performance. It will be interesting to see if Immortality has similar success, especially since it has even higher review scores than Her Story, but competition at this year's event may be too great. Immortality has to go up against the likes of Elden Ring and God of War Ragnarok in the various categories it's nominated in, but it may very well pull an upset.

Immortality is available now for mobile, PC, and Xbox Series X.
